The community is extremely toxic

If the community is toxic that’s on Bizzard for not banning enough people. Do you think players wanna deal with toxic players, either?

How is it my fault that I report people and Blizzard does nothing?

True, some of the people in LFD would have been banned in Dota 2 years ago, which is a famously toxic game. Moderators are super tolerant in this game (assuming there are moderators, which is unclear). Every sub counts I guess, even those paid for by sociopaths.

This is the culmination of over a decade of frustration in the way blizzard communicates with the player base. this goes deeper than some toxic white males or whoever you want to blame the toxicity on, this has been building for a long time.

Go look at old beta forums from WoD until now and see the frustration and how the testers get ignored, valid good ideas all in the vocal agreement are tossed and something even worse replacing the bad.

They stink at remembering what they learned from their mistakes.

Remember essences and how some were from the palace raid? People were a bit upset when they still needed those essences a tier later but no one was running palace.

And now, oh look, legendaries from Castle Nathria. I’m sure that will be fine come 9.2 or 9.3 lol

Or artifact power coming in tokens that fill up your bags, and how people who were capping out had to delete AP tokens because you couldn’t sell them.

Bfa changed AP to an xp bar and now you didn’t have tokens wasting space or problems with capping.

So what does SL do? Why, tokens that take up bag space and can’t be sold, of course!

How is it obviously an oversite when they also made ksm character restricted but didn’t change it?

There’s nothing wrong with players critiquing and expressing concern for their beloved game that they have played do many many years.

I don’t see a problem here.
Community complained and Blizzard helped.

In fact, this is THE ONLY example of successful feedback I’ve heard in the last several months.

Yeah, I guess people should just stay quiet and sit in a corner and not say anything, smh

gamers are toxic you act like its just wow lol. and the word toxic is one of those words that don’t even have meaning anymore cause most the whining about toxicity is over things that even toxic. how the internet changes the meanings of words or maybe everyone is just to soft in 2021.

There is tons of feedback, we are just not the players chosen to give it.

The community is toxic yes, but it is mostly to itself, the current anger/annoyance towards the game and its devs is justified IMO, there is no real communication, cherry picked Q&A, you have the devs sitting on high horses saying its not us its you, poor design around systems that cannot be balanced properly, poor decisions around basic systems like say flying, poor feedback response, poor attitudes to the players in general, adding timers to things where timers do not belong, I could go on but my subs runs out in a couple days and I think you get the point.

When was the last time the Warcraft dev’s did anything like this?
Regarding the Growing Player Population and Plans to Alleviate World Congestion | FINAL FANTASY XIV, The Lodestone

Remember the Lag we have had since BFA? still there lol nothing is fixed, in some areas its literally unplayable, especially when the world boss is up, the current attitude toward the game and the Devs, is of their own making, and has been building up for awhile, what you are starting to see now is people fed up.
Lets not pretend this is a player problem, it is not, Warcrafts players are vocal because they are passionate, like blizzard used to be.

People are trying to make the devs see they don’t want to leave, some of us (even me) still love this game, but I am not going to spend my money where I am not treated as a customer, but more as an annoyance or number (statistic).

We want fun, things fixed, more communication which they have promised several times yet not delivered, better game systems, A reason to go into the old world, the game is huge, yet all of it is squashed into 4 tiny zones at end game, why?

And end game is a joke, unless you like M+ or raiding. I like raiding but cant stand M+, unfortunately if you don’t do both you are left behind, or have nothing to do.

Activizard spends years mistreating the playerbase, ignoring feedback, not communicating, destroying the lore and making characters do things that are uncharacteristic of them

Playerbase gets more and more tired of it over time and starts to stand up for itself

Playerbase gets called toxic by Activizard mouthpiece

Oh they call us far worse than that. Publicly.

I thought it was ‘thoughts and prayers’ if you wanted to pretend to look like you care about a hot topic issue…

…that said: It’d be nice if we stopped with the ‘one step forward, two steps back’ (i.e. account-wide valor upgrades → character bound valor upgrades) stuff with Systemlands…

The problem is the devs really lost all good faith they had.

WoD was released, up to peak wrath numbers were there during launch. EVERYONE was excited. Only to find out the devs arrogantly took away flying (which they wanted to forever), crapped on casuals by taking all good armor away from LFR, giving PVP players PVE trashran, and sacrificing capital cities for Garrisons which lacked content and reason to interact with the world. That was what players faith in Blizzard was awarded with.

EDIT: Let’s not forget queue numbers for WoD were atrocious, no server prep at all.

Legion I felt was a good effort, and a step towards restoring that faith “somewhat”. But Legion felt more like an act of pure desperation rather than goodwill due to the atrocity which was WoD. So it’s hard to say.

Then BFA came and arrogance once again reared its tiny head. Players (mostly) satisfied with Legion were feeling good. Then night elves were crapped on with the destruction of their zone and city. Everything good about Legion was sacrificed for a crappy non customizable necklace. Warfronts were a straight lie (WC3 days my butt) and hyped up falsely by Blizzard, who didn’t even keep their end of the bargain and release all the Warfronts. Crap on Horde story and characters (RIP Saurfang) and Alliance characters and zones (RIP Darnassus) all for Steve Danasur’s waifu. WoD 2.0, arrogance and overconfidence, but here’s another 70$ store mount!

Let’s not even go into Shadowlands… the proof is in the pudding.

It’s the fault of the players they don’t post on the forums simply due to the toxic feedback they get. The games has had this problem ever since it came out in 2005. They tried to solve the problem by enforcing people to post with their real name on the forum to cut down on the trolling, but they never went with that. If people faced actual consequences for stuff they said on the forum there’s a high probability the trolling would almost vanish overnight.

After that they went completely silent. They can’t engage with the community with the constant trolling and negativity going on. I would not want to be a game developer who has to open the forum and have to engage with people. The developers can’t even do interviews with youtubers without the entire internet eating them alive. Then you have the band of streamers who openly criticize and rile up their followers against Blizzard.

They’re just not going to openly admit this. It’s just the elephant in the room.

That comment about how the Devs should “ignore the toxicity” thats tossed at them… Thats some garbage.

The community really seems like its growing more and more toxic. Its getting pretty awful. Im a generally positive person and one who likes to be wordy and respectful whether I’m saying I like something or I dont. Ive been seeing much more “this gAmE sUcKs!” Or “fFxIv iS bEtTeR!¡” or “fIrE eVeRyOnE aT wOw!” Or the “let’s beat wow with some other game and here’s alllllll the reasons why !”

Thats not healthy feedback. Its not constructive criticism. It’s not helpful at all. Its making things worse.

The negative lashing out at Devs (and other players) needs to stop. We need to find ways to communicate with them without being nasty and rude. We also need them to meet us in the middle… once we get to the middle ourselves.

You do realise that each character is attached to an account that has name address phone number etc, if they want to know who LOLPWN is they can just look it up.
