How does dual-spec ruin the game for you?
from aggrend’s twitter:
Actual vanilla classic isn’t for everyone, but there are a lot of people who love it. They’ve wanted this for a long time and I am glad we are able to give it to them. If SoD, or Cata, or Modern, or something else entirely is your jam, you do you!
I suggest you heed his advice
None of this points to how dual-spec ruins the game for you. Also, no part of his tweet advocates for anything that would say dual-spec would not be appropriate for Vanilla. What is more the point of that tweet is they don’t want to give Paladins a taunt or something like that. Lmfao.
Because it changes a fundamental aspect of classic gameplay. Hybrid specs have always been a big part of classic gameplay. Everyone running different specs to balance what they want to do, be it a focus in raids, soloing content, farming, pvp, or a mix of all of those.
Dual spec results in people just having two “meta” specs.
This is how classic is played. Thats just one example of how it changes the fundamental gameplay of classic.
But the only argument there should ever be is that dual spec does not belong in classic.
If you want retail changes, play retail, or better yet play the classic game version where blizzard implements idiotic ideas from players, SoD.
Same tired argument you guys used against any of the other changes they have already implemented.
I think there’s a bit of an overreaction to what dual-spec would actually change. You’re assuming that it would force everyone into two “meta” specs, but let’s be real—that already happens. Whether it’s in PvP or PvE, people are already optimizing for the best specs. Dual-spec doesn’t change that; it just makes it less painful to switch between roles without bleeding gold every time.
Hybrid specs will still exist for those who enjoy that flexibility. The only difference is that players who want to swap between, say, a raid build and a PvP build, or between tanking and DPSing, can do so without needing to constantly respec. It’s not about turning Classic into Retail—it’s about respecting players time without taking away the challenge or feel of the game.
Doesnt matter whether youre in arms or fury spec for pvp, youre still a walking target dummy for better classes.
Put the leather on and do the dps, brownie.
Haha cheers. I still have not heard a reason that dual-spec would ruin the game for you though.
Look dude, actual vanilla classic is not for everyone. If SoD, or Cata, or Modern, or something else entirely is your jam, you do you!
Hey, I’m playing with or without dual-spec. I just want more flexibility and less people selling tanking/healing services.
you will be playing without dual spec
Maybe, but maybe not. I remember the same exact attitude with people for GDKPs. I will admit brother, you are probably right about the 20th anniversary edition servers. However, if they ever do more fresh servers in the future; if there is enough push for it, it is highly likely they will do dual-spec for those (See GDKP rule for these servers)
I guess I just do not understand this mentality. As OP said, it is the same argument people used for GDKPs. “Well, that is how it is and you WILL like it!”. Like…really? Can you guys at least bring good faith arguments?
No fun allowed.
If you want duel spec go furyprot or feral druid.
Yea hope so

24 hours is too long. I’d say 1-3 perhaps, enough that you can’t do it every fight but enough that you can do it when farming stuff, then swap before raid.
Good idea, bring in dual spec
Don’t like the idea of dual spec. Everybody running around with identical min/max builds all the time feels anti-rpg. The dungeons are tuned so that you don’t need perfect builds to do them.
Lowering/capping the costs of respec seams reasonable though.

We did it boiz.
