I played OG MoP everyday of its entirety in PvP and let me tell you… In OG MoP you COULD global players in PvP in the same gear everybody has now…
The thing is I don’t understand why Blizzard… Why add so much baseline resil as if we’re full 483 which is about the equivalent to the resil now on 463 gear…
Do not make Classic the same as retail and kill it by forging your own ideas onto what works… MOP was the best expansion in most players eyes for PvP and I do not want to see it botched.
Early MoP seen Demonology Warlocks hitting 70-100k Chaos Waves and other classes were hitting equally as hard! It was fast paced and everybody loved it.
The 30ks are a joke with a 300k health pool and this is coming from someone whose had 2700+ rating in retail so, I’m not just trying to complain about “muh skill”
They listened to a healer main who spammed their twitter every single day to make the game a damp fest.
The last time they listened to a healer we got BFA which almost killed the games PvP entirely.
If I want damp fest PvP, I can go log into retail. Why bring that garbage to classic?
The more methodical style of PvP is a welcome change. Getting globaled is not good design. We saw what a disaster bursty PvP was with SoD, it was not well received by the community.
What I remember of MoP PvP as MW was constant complaints about how hard it was to kill me. Endless hate threads over dematerialize and healing spheres.
You’re forgetting mop classic is also on the last balance patch, meaning all the imbalanced one shot gimmicks you remember were nerfed by 5.4.8, which is what the game runs on. I also played at the top of the ladder all through MoP, it wasn’t fun the first 2 patches, with BM hunters pets ignoring resil, warriors one shotting you with 1 spell etc. One shotting mechanics are very noob friendly and promote distasteful and unfun gameplay, like we had in Cata with triple dps comps and pve gear. It isn’t competitive gameplay and there’s 0 integrity in it. I get it’s not fun for casuals in BGs who want to “stomp noobs” or something, but gimmick gameplay is always unhealthy for Arena, it’s generally always nerfed.
I would also advise waiting for full S12 gear before having an opinion. Playing on beta, the game is still spiky, and if resil was any lower the game would not be fun.
I haven’t played retail since original cataclysm. I have no idea what retail PvP is like nowadays.
What I do know is the slower paced PvP in TBC was far better than wrath, where some comps could global certain counters and there was a lot less room to outplay bad matchups.
I know SoD was much burstier than pre-naxx gear vanilla, and everyone was getting 1 shot. It was the worst state of WoW PvP I have ever seen.
WoW is not a reaction time based game. It’s a tab target game with dice roll hits, not a real time combat moba. WoW PvP by its very nature is strategic far more than reactionary.
All PvP is methodical to some degree. Classic WoW is far more than the game got in later expansions (version of WoW far more similar to retail) where they have apparently pruned out cc or made it useless, in favor of big crit cd trading. I prefer classic PvP far more.
You mean the hidden stamina buff that was inside bgs? And the hidden resilience from phase 1? Yeah, that was an absolute godsend. Bgs were significantly more enjoyable than world pvp as a result of those.
In the open world, it was a 1 shot fest. Total garbage and universally disliked, which is why they beefed up players HP and mitigation inside bgs in the first place.
I guess you missed the part where I said phase 5… Said nothing about phase 1 or 2 or 3… I said phase 5 and on, you know when players started to bail and they had to MERGE servers…
Men lie, women lie, numbers don’t… And when you have to merge servers because some servers are DYING, that might indicate their is a issue…
