The Cata survey is why Cata is coming

It has been truly wonderful watching all the tinfoil hat theories in this thread. I think some of you need to loosen them a little though, you’re cutting the circulation to your brain.

And that’s fine. The problem isn’t that Cata is coming, but that the only option to play Wrath will be somewhere else again.

What they did to the spell rank system, removed lots of class quests, added battlepets which destroyed all the old pet models, added in RBGs which made getting your titles from original WoW completely pointless, You know why Blizz announced 3 xpacs all at the same time? Because they knew that everyone subbed just for Classic would unsub halfway thru Cata…Cata isn’t Classic. Cata is why people began to ask for Classic…becuase it destroys Classic.

What is there to do?

Not even close to true andrew

100% true.

Those so excited for Cata?..MoP and WoD are coming next.

gO BaCk tO erA

oh wait, no one plays lol

Also they mentioned that they have heard a lot of feedback of wanting MOP, as its one of, if not the best expansion. I doubt we get wod

I’ll take WoD if they finish it this time.

I guess they could do that. That would be interesting.

Nobody cares about spell ranks now that downranking is dead. Battle pets are MoP, not Cata. Titles from vanilla were solely grinding, titles from RBG require skill (I can see why some of y’all are mad about this one since it requires skill and not afking in premades 24/7).

Class quests being removed is sad but let’s be real, no one does them now in Wrath. The only class quests that truly matter are the shaman totem ones.

I have every RBG title in game. They should have given different titles, not the same exact ones.

Cata isnt Classic. Cata is what destroys Classic. And this sure is seeming like it is now WoW2 that we are playing. We are going through every expac in order and are catching up to regular retail WoW…so this is WoW2 that we are playing. But these Classics…far less popular than the original versions.

A Classic server is just a re-release of an old expansion. Shadowlands Classic would be a Classic server. As far as ‘becoming Retail’ that only happens when Blizz makes changes to the old games, like adding Mythic dungeons to Wrath. If kept authentic, it’ll never be like Retail.

And at the pace they’re going Classic servers will catch up to Retail in like 30 years. It’s never going to happen.

Cata has been popular in the pserver scene for the past decade, and its been even more popular in recent years due to improved 4.3.4 core stability and development efforts. Cata and MoP are cherised in this community for the PvP experience, which is overall regarded as some of the best in WoW’s history. I tend to agree - I’m a big fan of the balancing, HP:Damage ratio, and overall feel and flow of PvP from this era.

Super excited for an official cata experience on this end. Been waiting for this for a long time.

I would have replied but I think you summed it up perfectly.

Classic era servers ----->

MoP. TBC, Vanilla and Wrath are the most popular. Most popular of all is Ascension. That is the only reason Blizz is making SOD is because of that. So people want that type of gameplay more than anything else. SOD will not be exactly like it though. More likely a combination of that one and SOM.

I’m of the belief that every expansion has its own appeal and I respect that everyone has their own, personal opinion of which is the “best”. Ideally I’d like to see an “Era” server for each previous expansion, so that players can choose where they want to play, whenever they want to - that includes players who like multiple expansions, and desire to hop around depending on their mood on any given day. This will probably never happen, though, due to Blizzard’s resource allocation.

Ive played Ascention. Wasnt for me. I didnt like the classless design. SoD is different and, i agree, clearly inspired by Ascention, but not sure its for me. I’ll give it a shot, though. Why not.

I have no interest in cata as I have done the quests to death over the years. I couldn’t for the life of me go back to some of the revamped EK or Kalimdor zones. And Uldum/Twighlight Highlands just bore me to death. Also I don’t want Deathwing to just nuke when while I am out questing. It was funny back in the day but it would be annoying now.

I don’t have any interest in the dungeons/raids.

I have all of the xmog I want on my retail character so that is out.

Really the only decent memories I have of Cata was the pvp but I wouldn’t even go back for that. Why? Because unlike when Cata was fresh and people were figuring things out from patch to patch this is going to be a version where guides will be everywhere. If you don’t play your class the right way you won’t get anywhere in pvp. That and you will go against experienced players who will roll over you for being a casual/new player.

I don’t find classic game pvp modes fun as the longer they last the better the players get. And that means the more you should be playing it to keep up and I don’t have that much interest.

So TD:LR I have nothing that really is grabbing me for Cata.
