You have some really bad taste OP
This is the most tasteless thing I’ve seen here in a long time, and that’s saying something.
It’s blizzard, it doesn’t have to make sense. It just has to be cool. If you just take it at face value, it is an amazing visual.
I don’t work at blizzard, but I’d be willing to bet that once someone had this vision in their mind, they just knew it had to be in the game and they’d work out the finer details as they went along.
The story has slowly been moving away from this to reflect players feelings. Even the lore characters are tired of the faction conflict.
It’s like they always say, “There’s no accounting for it.”
It’s basically the same type of person that needs something so drastic to get their brain juices flowing. Burning lots of people will always be compared to the holocaust, which should never be someone’s favorite real life moments.
Knowing the full story now, I wished that I never brought this druid thru that blasted pre-expansion event
That’s like saying that guards attacking you when you enter their city will always be compared to police brutality in real life.
It just doesn’t track. Nobody sane is comparing Teldrassil to the Holocaust. I mean come on.
Not only is the comparison absurd, but it’s also completely lacking in meaningful parallels. Sylvanas didn’t round the elves up into camps. She didn’t have them experimented on by her apothecaries. She didn’t make abominations out of them. She didn’t starve them to death.
She set their tree on fire. That’s not what happened in the Holocaust at all. At all.
My family is Roma, and I have great-grandparents that were killed in the Holocaust, their bodies thrown in a ditch. It wasn’t just a genocide, but a demonstration of supreme human cruelty brought about by rabid nationalism and fascist ideology.
Sylvanas came to take lives, to destroy, to conquer, and then to depart as the undisputed victor.
Sylvanas was not like Hitler. In that moment, I would liken her to the Great Genghis Khan.
Two threads on the same topic come up at the same time. I smell conspiracy…
police brutality is when the city guard are attacking characters of the same faction.
as far as sykvanas, you just likened her to another historical person that kills lots of peoples. I guess she will be forever be remembered as that lady that burns and kills lots of people. What a waste of a character.
Anyhow, I stand by my point that people who likes the burning are not normal people and needs to go to therapy.
it was ok in the moment but now, meh
You’re correct about this. I take enormous pride in not being normal. I loathe normalcy.
Been there, done that, didn’t help. I majored in psychology, and so therapy is something with which I’m extremely familiar. I have different values and ethics than most people, and therapy can’t really address values/ethics because values are subjective and most of them are formed before any sort of trauma occurs in life. There is no way to rewrite a person’s sense of morality.
Honestly this is something we can appreciate over FFXIV. They essentially opened the gates of hell and it hardly did anything.
It wasn’t my favorite WoW moment, but it really was the first moment the past few expansions that really felt like Warcraft, and in character at that.
Like, yes, I get Afrasiabi was a drunken lecher, but trying to spin the Burning of Teldrassil as some “out of the blue” decision he single-handedly hoisted upon the writing staff and they felt it’d “ruin her character” but he had some vendetta against the character shows either a) a fundamental misunderstanding of Sylvanas as a character and of the story-telling tropes of the setting, or b) absolute scapegoating and trying to deflect away from the responsibility that is the current trash tier writing.
As I’ve pointed out several times, she’s always been a brutal tactician and military mind with plenty of evidence attesting to this both before and after Arthas. It’s why her and Nathanos clicked, as he too was described as a master military strategist which was why he was the ONLY human admitted into the ranger ranks. The Ranger’s campaign in wiping out the Amani Trolls is 100% why Zul’Jin joined the Horde in WC2, which was something he didn’t want to do at all, but it was either that or face extinction at the hands of the High Elves.
It wasn’t some shocking and out of character event the current writing team is trying to turn it into. She is not, and has never been a redeemable character and that was originally the entire point OF her character. She wasn’t supposed to be redeemable, she was supposed to represent an unbreakable will, an unbending view, and achieving one’s goal at ANY cost.
I hated it. Blizzard keeps wrecking parts of Azeroth and then putting a bronze dragon there. It becomes especially annoying for holiday events. We need to start rebuilding Azeroth.
oh god this moment is the reason why i kumory will kill every horde in my path on pvp even the lvl 1’s. my anger is just like tyrande and jaina’s i will never forgive the horde. when i seen the sylvannas newish video on her reliving it i was all like “finally relive your torment you just deserve.” then blizzard woke her… back to being kumory the horde breaker
You do realize if Stormwind was ever destroyed Ogrimmar would have been destroyed? Also, you did get to attack Stormwind, in Garrosh’s dream which is where it will stay
A playable faction shouldn’t be responsible for a genocide. Especially if the writers are going to halfass the resolution.
I would have loved to have torn her to shreds in that moment with my claws.
Indeed. I’ll always cherish the memory of the great BBQ. The smell of burnt nelf, the screaming on the wind, the haze in the air…
The Burning of Teldrassil is far from my favorite WoW Moment. As if justice against the Night Elves and their Alliance even warrants being in the top 5.
I am so glad that Troll Mages sparked the catapults, and the Troll Shaman helped that sacrilegious city state burn. But such long over due justice against the Night Elves and their Alliance is barely worth regard.
If I may be diplomatic… I am glad that Blizzard has delivered with impactful moments.
If you had feelings, I guess that means something to you. So, good.
You were content with it. But I see the Burning of Teldrassil as a mere down payment.
It was okay.
