The best Quest in Classic

What was your favorite leveling quest in Classic WoW?

Mine was the quest to free, er I mean kill princess Myzrael. I can’t remember how I found the quest as I was leveling, but it was kinda fun overall.

Another of the the same leveling period was the Ulduman quests, to unlock the door and all that. Not sure why I got sucked into the whole indiana jones theme of the thing but that’s kinda what it was suppose to represent, and that really worked for me.

I do think they really botched the job with the whole Harrison Jones thing later; never did feel like you were in an immersive discovery kinda of situation in the later games because it was way too scripted.

Wasn’t that added in Cata?

If I remember correctly, the quest start item dropped from a mob in Arathi

to me, Stalvan and the hermit questlines in duskwood.

I have to agree with this. I saw the final stages of this quest so many times. Helped kill her in SW ad nauseum. But to finally be the one who got to do the epic walk up from the gates with the keep. To be the guy with Marshal Windsor. Was awesome.

The quest in redridge, with the orcs in the broken down castle. You’d have to get a group because the mobs were in groups and tough and the named guy is in the back. You’d kill your way in, and there’s just enough time between respawns to make you feel safe. So invariably the mobs would close you in and your group would have a life and death moment of “which group do we attack?” Someone would eventually back up too far and aggro another group. Chaos would ensue.

The quest chain in the Wetlands that ends with Balgaras the Foul. A level 34 elite that players often reached long before they actually got to level 34. He could spawn in two possible locations, was well protected by minions, and generally turned players into mush if people didn’t gang up to take him out.

They really shoved Harrison Jones down our throats in Cataclysm by making him the center of half a zone. Made me kind of angry tbh.

[26] Blueleaf Tubers (Elite)
Description

Blueleaf tubers are a delicacy around the world! But they’re rare, very rare. The only place to find them is here in the Barrens, deep in the earth, in Razorfen Kraul.

And even then, they’re impossible to find unless you know just where to look! That’s why I’ve trained these snufflenose gophers to find them for me. They have great noses and can smell a tuber from fifty paces away.

It won’t be easy, but if you get me some tubers I’ll pay you handsomely.

Never completed the quest tho…

Definitely the Battle for Darrowshire.

Runner up that comes to mind is the quests the ghost gives you at the entrance of The Blasted Lands to save the souls of his friends who were now being used to power demons. Really set the stage for that area.

The Warrior quests for Stances and to make the Whirlwind weapons was awesome.

Also that quest that Varimathras gave you that required you to clear out Gnomeregan for some pretty sweet for that level pants, really random.

The Tirion Fordring chain. I remember going out there and doing his first few quests, and thought it was bugged for hours, and wrote a ticket. A GM contacted me and told me to carefully read the quest.

Tirion literally says, “sit hero, and hear my tale” or something along those lines. It dawned on me I had to/sit.

After that, the quest took you all over EPL and you learned of the story with his son, leading to a Stratholme run. Then, the final push to disguise yourself and head into Hearthglen, an area I had previously avoided due to the elites.

Then his son dies and he goes off. Straight rampages through the enemies.

That quest always stuck with me. I knew how to do it on private servers even with the bugs some of us experienced due to having such a good memory of it.
