Well, it looks like Ysera is coming back. Apparently she didn’t just get turned into a bunch of stars. Whatever Elune is, she is clearly into theatrics.
I wonder is she is going to be reborn as a Wild God or come back as a Dragon. Maybe it will somehow lead to solving that infertility problem the Dragons have since she obviously can’t be reborn as one while that is in effect.
Good point. I know Night Elf fans were due some pandering from Blizzard, but isn’t undermining Ysera’s death, one of the truly genuinely emotional moments of the story and an event that helped define Elune’s relationship with the forces of nature…kind of disappointing?
Rather than being a chosen of Elune, Ysera just kind of…goes to Ardenweald and that’s it?
Maybe an afterlife expansion wasn’t such a good idea. Too much peaking behind the curtain.
Also this description of Ysera’s experience:
In [End of the Dream], we learn that the reason Ysera is so restless within her wildseed is that she is constantly reliving her final moments in life, over and over and over. To be able to go over the ritual that reawakens her, we need to go through her final moments as if we were Ysera herself, which means we are transported to Val’sharah to relive her death in the Temple of Elune.
Seems like you didnt read the spoilers yseras egg or whatever was literally brought personally to ardenweald which the night fae think odd, elune literally skipped the kyrain for her and brought her straight to ardenweald
also didnt read it did you the night fae themselves talk about how weird it is that her nightmares are happening
I don’t trust the Night Fae or any other Shadowlands race. They are all brainwashed sycophants. I’ve heard the datamined voice overs. Like every other Shadowlands zone, the Winter Queen has a cult.
Well considering Ardenwald is a place where those closely connected to nature or the Wild Gods can be reborn, it isn’t that much of a stretch for Ysera to be there. After all, the original Dragon/Flying thing after life was that tree remember?
If Vol’jin is getting a rebirth, I am not too bothered by Ysera getting one to. Frankly this expansion was almost certainly going to trivialize the deaths of a lot of characters. i haven’t seen enough yet to tell whether that is going to bother me or not.
It’s definitely cool, but I do hope that this doesn’t dominate the zone (levelling-wise), and it’s just one aspect of it. It’d be a shame if the whole thing was “revive Ysera!”
The Nightmare’s Corruption was never purged… N’Zoth of course lost control of the Nightmare when he died preventing the Nightmare from consuming Ysera in Ardenweald granting him access to the place.
Makes one wonder if the book Khadgar got was legitimate or something N’Zoth wrote to get something he corrupted to his ancestor…
Void Gods have been called Void Lords at times so it should not be hard to imagine that a Void God spawned from one of Xe’ra’s descendants served as the avatar of the Void Lord that cast N’Zoth towards Azeroth.
In any case Ysera is likely going to become a being as powerful as she was as the Aspect of Dreams!
The Dream Trees lead directly to the Emerald Dream. Beings of Nature gaining a Death empowerment explains the Cyan Eyes and Horns of Cenarius as Ysera’s new Model has new Eyes.
seems from the achievement that its about half and the other half is drust stuff with the voljin and tyrande stuff is stuff that you only get if you join the faction
I know most Night Elf fans will choose Ardenweald anyway, but this does seem somewhat shortsighted on Blizzard’s part and just begging for complaints about being forced into a Covenant.
As a dragon, Ysera wasn’t necessarily bound for rejuvenation in Ardenweald. Arguably she probably wasn’t. After all, without the Aspect powers green dragons are in effect just really strong (newly) mortal druids. And for all the talk of immortal Wild Gods/Loas/etc. traveling there to regenerate, there’s no implication that the mortal druids who go to Ardenweald are there for any sort of rebirth. Rather, they seem to go there just to continue their calling as stewards of Nature from life, only in death. Because despite their closeness to and reverence of Nature, druids aren’t actually Ancients or Wild Gods. Neither are green dragons. And as ancient and powerful as Ysera was, without her Aspect powers she was still just a mortal green dragon when she fell.
What we saw in Legion with the purification of her spirit and “elevation” to the heavens may well have amounted to Elune stepping in and ensuring that Ysera would find rebirth in a manner that she wouldn’t have if she’d died under normal circumstances, as a mortal dragon. And perhaps even rebirth as something more than she was. Like Vol’jin potentially returning as a Loa, perhaps Ysera’s fate will be something akin to rebirth as an actual Wild God. And in the manner that existing ones are like immortal “totem” spirits and champions of the creatures from which they arose, perhaps she’ll return someday as some form of “Wild God of dragons.”
Maybe even as the beginning of a process toward fixing the post-Aspect circumstances of dragons being sterile and doomed to die out, so they can someday join the rest of Azeroth as a viable mortal species.
Storm Dragons, Black Dragons, Twilight Dragons, Nether Dragons and now Green Dragons are going to be capable of breeding!
Velen’s vision showed Dragons of different colors flying to face the Darkness… The vision didn’t say what colors just that the formation they flew was like a multicolored wing!
When Wrathion gets his hands on the Black Dragon Whelps who are now cut off from the Old Gods(due to the Old Gods’ demise on Azeroth) he can feed them the potion to block Void corruption! Same for Twilight and Void Dragons!
Infact Wrathion is actively saving the Twilight Drakes and Void Drakes from Void Whispers and Corruption!
Green Dragons, Void Dragons, Twilight Dragons, Nether Dragons and Storm Dragons all live, are capable of breeding and will be quite capable of producing a multicolored wing-like formation in the sky for the big showdown!
I think you’re missing the point with Ysera. Everyone who died in Legion was going to the Maw.
Ysera was directly taken by Elune, skipped the Maw, skipped Oribos/Arbiter, and planted right into Ardenweald. Simultaneously, a constellation was made in her honor, possibly to represent her now living among the stars (ie, reborn in the afterlife).
That event was as much symbolic as it was critical to Ysera to keep her from suffering in death.
Ardenweald is called a Celestial Forest and it’s Magics are called Celestial Magics…
Elune’s chosen go to the Stars and the Stars are Ardenweald.
Ardenweald is the Death Realm of Stars, Decay(the Gorm’s role is to be composters and an Ardenweald Spell is called Soul Rot) and Nature and opposite of Thros the Life Realm of Nightmares, Spirit(Drust use Spirit Bolts during their invasion of Ardenweald) and Death.
