The Answer to Premades is Simple!

I don’t understand why people are talking about solo queue vs 10 man queue! Solo queue is dumb because this is a MMO and you should be able to play with friends, 10 man queue is dumb because there’s no extra rewards so why would people play it.

The answer is so obvious it hurts my brain when I see people debating how you would fix this….

5 man groups max. There done you can play with friends, you can be impactful enough to probably win the bg if you’re good. But also it most likely won’t be a complete graveyard stomping for the other team.

The only valid counter argument to this is “people will just work around it and queue two 5 man groups at the same time”. Well, easy fix just make the queues select a mix (I.e. if a 5 man joins the rest need to be solo players). Maybe some people will still figure out how to premade under the new system…. But who cares! It’s going to be WAY less than currently and that’s a win in my book.

TLDR, 5 man groups, easy fix, can still play with friends, might still be some premades but it will be way less. Just any change at the moment to show blizzard even care about the issue would be a huge win… here’s hoping.

Yep blizzard limits group size to 5 for BG’s in every other iteration of WoW(including classic) because premade vs pug is just stupid.

I can only guess aggredd was sick of losing in even matches which is why he wants pug stomping in SoD.

For the record no one ever asked for players to be unable to form premades, they are simply asking that premades face off against other premades.

Personally, I think that would be a far superior way to handle bg’s but Blizzard has ignored those pleas for nearly 20 years now so maybe it’s time to just suck it up and let it go.

edit: You know I used to post this a lot to kind of grind salt into people’s wounds but in the process it’s value has really sunk into me so I am going to post it again as genuine advice to people complaining about pugs vs premades:

Grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.

Best solution is to just leave it as is. Join a premade and stop crying.

It really is…

Wanting pugs is a symptom of not sucking at PvP.

In pugs you get a good mix of meaningless zerg warfare, and actual good small 1v1 or even 2v1 fights you can potentially win.

When its a premade the entire thing is just zerg warfare, naturally bads love this as they never have to 1v1 anything, or face the reality of their mediocrity.

Blizzard has not ignored those plea’s for 20 years. In fact they changed this exact thing in tbc classic…

So they clearly have the ability to do it…

As someone who is taking the challenge to climb to exalted using the solo queue only, I understand the frustration with fighting against premades. They have every advantage and have a 99.9% win rate against a full pug.

That being said I can see why they still allow full premades. First off fracturing the queue would lead to increased queue times even if by a little and quite frankly it would take too much effort and possibly have unforeseen problems. Better to stick with the devil you know. Second the game wants to encourage grouping and fostering friendships which happens when you seek a premade. And finally the solo queue isnt without it’s own issues that full premades prefer to not deal with such as bots, unskilled players, and players that simply afk.

People want an all solo queue but will complain when they get mached up unevenly and have no healers. Blizzard will not try to complicate the system by trying to set up a comp before starting a match. I’ve thought about this for awhile now and I cant see any solution that would be any better than what we currently have.

As players hit exalted we will see premades thin out and eventually you will on see them in the twink brackets or at the end game pushing for rank as I think WSG is still solid for honor.

So if you think everyone premading is the answer, what’s wrong with just splitting the queue?

That’s the same result for people currently premading.

This is very true, premade vs premade 90% of the time is just a gear check in the opening fight. Maybe sometimes a skilled FC can make a difference but generally which ever team is more geared and wins the first exchange is just going to win the bg… Not really fun in my book.

Queueing as a team of 5 though you can be impactful on the match but without just rolling people in the graveyard 80% of matches. I’d much prefer playing premades that way but some people seem to defend that gameplay so I really don’t know…

No one said they couldn’t do it, they said they didn’t want to.

Right because they want to cater to premades who are so bad at pvp they can only win by pug stomping.

That’s not even what I said. You literally quoted what I stated, and you didn’t read it? Or you read it, and you’re intentionally misrepresenting what I stated? Or perhaps you didn’t mean to quote me?

:woman_shrugging:

The only thing wrong with splitting the queue (not that this hasn’t been discussed ad infinitum) other than several other obvious and less obvious things, such as the fact there is no problem to begin with is that it caters to bots, throwers, and quitters and why would we want to do that?

The solution is 5 mans. You really think people who are queuing 10 mans have 9 friends they really want to play with?? Or maybe they’re just after the easiest path to exalted?? Hmm I wonder.

5 mans is easy, you can play with friends but you don’t graveyard farm.

I wouldn’t count on any kind of complex fix such as splitting the queues or limiting it to only 5 like they did in AV. The best solution that I could possibly see considering there is a potential bis item gated behind this rep would be to allow Ashenvale to go to exalted but only at the start of P2 to allow players that don’t want to PVP another avenue.

Imagine being someone else’s food and plaything and taking pride in that because your rose-tinted glasses are 20 years old.

Imagine enjoying a game that you spend time playing, and paying for?

You’re saying everyone should just premade. The result of which would be premades only fighting premades which is the exact same as just splitting the queue.

Except splitting the queue would be no impact for premades but an improvement for people not premading. Which should be a win win for everyone.

But we both know the real reason is that premades are actually just terrified of a fair match.

I’m not sure what’s happening on your end. Do you maybe have a browser virus or something?

Limiting to 5 mans is not a complex fix.

Classic wrath does this.
Retail does this.

It’s just so simple it makes my head hurt, how is this even a debate?
