Maybe one of these days, Tyrande will show up to trample on the peace and shatter Alliance unity. Maybe.
So we get to lose major territories, and major lore characters??
Btw the alliance doesn’t even get to kill Horde badguys… horde kills horde… kind of in their nature
Varian’s sacrifice? Anduin’s journey back to find Shalamayne?
Pretty much every zone oozes Night Elf lore outside of Highmountain and Stormheim. I get that these zones act neutral, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that neutral =/= non-Alliance.
EDIT: Prophet Velen even takes control of the narrative during Argus.
I want to laugh but it’s too true and it just makes me sad.
Blizzard needs to learn from Squareenix, they managed to make a phenomenal story in Shadowbringers and they did it without killing off a single one of your friends in the story. Blizzard, it IS possible to make an incredible narrative without killing off anyone important. Or killing them off and then bringing them back again later.
Look at this incredible Horde Exclusive Cinematic:
Faction unity is most certainly coming next expansion.
Like, I have no doubt about that.
I have the opposite reaction. The Alliance stood strong and proud against a tyrant, and had to step in again to help the Horde sort out their own mess. Jaina got closure for her backstory and settled old wounds.
Tink tink, buddy
Wrath of the Lich King.
Plot device.
Gives ‘reasons’ for Alliance to hate the Horde(like we need more) and start the ‘Sylvanas is coo-coo bad’. plot bunny.
Little boy finds father’s sword; gets frowny face.
End cutscene.
Boy goes back to acting just like he did before visions.
Huzzah.
Skäl.
Those zones were the ancestral capital of the Night Elven empire pre-Sundering. Ya know, with the 10,000 year sealed Nightborne area in Suramar.
That’s silly. As a writer you can make anyone as interesting or boring as you want, regardless of their established backstory. It’s called thickening the plot and it just takes a wee bit of creativity… but that’s the fun part!
Im not so sure. Itd be nice if they did shake things up, but i dont know if blizz has the stones.
The theory that tyrande is about to be used to destroy this hard earned peace, seems pretty likely to me. It’ll answer night elves gripe about getting vengeance, and answer alliances gripe about not getting story attention for themselves by setting up their own internal division.
Itd be cool if blizz actually did change the way factions work though.
I disagree, I think Alliance has plenty of good characters, they’re just not used
What about the Dwarves this expansion? There’s a ton of cool Dwarves that have been sitting there doing nothing, Moira is a great character and she’s just been chilling out with the others
Falstad is the only one who seems to have any presence and he’s at the beck and call of the CHAMPION (you)
I can see a lot of interesting things being done with Genn and Tyrande, but they’re just not allowed to do so because they need to make Sylvanas seem extremely powerful and evil
What about Taelia, who after her grand reveal has, as far as I know, done jack all and had no involvement in the story? She was fun to quest with and then she’s just dropped like a rock
There’s plenty of characters to use, they’re just…not using them
As in…how?
I was under the impression that was a joint venture: especially the Horde would want revenge. Not only for the death and reventing of Saurfang’s kid but Arthas was the one who devastated Qyel’Thalas and was thus instrumental in getting the BLOOD ELVES to join the Horde.
for that last alone, the Horde would want VENGENCE!
Skäl.
Bolvar’s death at the Wrathgate, Bolvar’s donning of the Helm of Domination.
Literally Arthas, the main villain, is an established Alliance character and a lot of the zones, specifically Dragonblight, delve into his inevitable downfall.
It’s been like that since the end of WOTLK when they started Garrosh’s journey to Warchief, interfactional split, rebellion, then his fall at Siege, then Vol’Jins appointment, then basically he was the vehicle to get Sylvanas in so she could chase after immortality, now another intrafactional split, Saurfang cinematic, Saurfang cinematic, Saurfang Cinematic.

Typical alliance whinging. What about Jaina, Anduin, Genn, Malfurion, Tyrande, Shandris etc?
How many Alliance leaders have been killed by players in endgame raids? How many Alliance cities have been raided by players in endgame raids?
Exactly. The Alliance has characters, they just aren’t given screentime. Even when they do get time in the spotlight it’s usually to act as a neutral party or peacemaker
We lost Varian, that’s just about the most interesting character Blizz could’ve afforded to let go. Anduin and Jaina would be the only Alliance deaths with meaning behind them, but their plot armor is unbreakable
I mean yeah. The Horde did take the backseat to the Alliance in legion too. It goes back and forth
