The AH changes coming in this next patch

So they said that items are no longer sold in stacks. Instead, you put the price you’re looking for and it buys the exact quantity you’re looking for at the cheapest price available.

I haven’t played retail in years, so I don’t know if this is a change from retail, but to me, this sounds exactly like the Grand Exchange from Runescape. Is this how it’s going to function? It sounds like a cool change.

I believe its how retail is.

I could be wrong tho.

Yes thats how retail works.

When you list, its at current lowest price.

Bots will list 1 item at a super low price and snipe people that list a ton for that price. Be careful.

I didn’t think people would do that D:

Thank you for the warning, I’ll keep my eyes out for that.

However, this will also prevent the other toxic behavior of players listing items for a low bid and then setting an excessively high buyout price. There is always a downside to everything.

Yeah, I came close to falling for that a few times. Every so often I would be buying stacks of mats for professions, and someone would set the bid super low, and then crank up the buyout price for an obscene amount. Several thousands more than what it’s really worth. I hate scammers like that.

On an unrelated note, is your name a reference to Forrest Gump?

Yes, I created this character and then renamed it as a joke because I went three months without my BiS legs dropping. So the joke was i aint got no legs.

so like whats happeneing already? btw anyone who sees 1 item for much lower than the rest should report that person because 99% of the time it’s a bot. the new auction house doesn’t really change anything if you’re already using auctionator. Continue using auctionator.

Most of the time its a stupid name. so

Lol i just buy the item(s)

That’s hilarious lol.

Sorry you didn’t get your legs D:

I dont really play this toon much anymore i only did 1 FL on this toon because it was needed for a comp other then that i just play my Mage or feral.

This is not like the Grand Exchange in runescape. The GE allows you to both place buy and sell orders and the game will match you with other players.

You cannot place buy orders where people can come and fulfill your request. This is just a simplified auction house where all things being sold are now grouped together. So if you have two sellers of Copper Ore, one has 15 copper ore for sale for 30s each and one has 80 copper for sale for 40s each, you can opt to buy 20 copper ore and you will first buy out the 15 copper ore and then the remaining 5 will come from the 80 copper ore if you agree to that price.

If you are a seller and you put up your copper ore to sell, you will see both entries and choose your own sell price based on that information. You can set your price to 40 because you think the 30s section will be bought out quickly, you can set your price to 39 to be next in line, you can set your price to be 30s and take priority over the existing person, or you can set your price to 29s 99c to undercut further, but because you take priority over the existing copper ore at 30s, you have no incentive to undercut by 1c (but people still will because you have been trained over many years to do so).

Honestly, its a much better system than current. No longer do you have to interact with 20 different auctions that someone put of 1 silk cloth over and over because you want a single stack of silk.

Also as a seller, you can dump multiple stacks all at once into the auction house, and people can buy it piece by piece instead of having to commit to the entire stack.

No more entries of a single gem priced the same as a stack of 20 gems to pull one over on an inattentive buyer. No more stacks of 20 gems hoping someone thinks its just a single one and they buy all at once.

It’s just better for buyers and sellers with good intentions.

Huh… I wonder if that would not prevent the RMT AH transfer option since you can’t outright buy the more expensive option…

Who am I kidding I’m sure they will find some obscure item that no one ever list to trade with.

yeah theyll list grey items

I do like the retail AH system than what thas come prior. There always will be people who will try to play the system no matter how it is designed.

Ah, I see. That seems better than the current AH. It sounds like undercutting will still be a bit of an issue though D:

Undercutting is indeed a persistent issue in World of Warcraft’s Auction House, and it’s deeply rooted in basic economics. In any market, including virtual ones, sellers will often lower their prices to attract buyers, leading to a cycle of undercutting. This behavior is driven by the principles of supply and demand, where sellers compete to offer the lowest price to make a sale.

In WoW, this means that even with changes to the Auction House system, undercutting will always be a factor as players strive to sell their items quickly. It’s a fundamental aspect of how markets operate, and it’s unlikely to be completely eliminated. This is similar to real-world markets where businesses constantly adjust their prices to stay competitive.

So, while the new Auction House system may improve certain aspects, the basic economic principle of competition will always lead to some level of undercutting.

Again though I need to ask, why do you care so much? It’s not like he’s spewing all garbage or blatant lies… You’re literally targeting him at this point. Hell how long before it’s me for no reason other than defending a stranger? Move on man.

You may be fine with a borderline bot spreading chatgpt generated responses and spamming the forums, but don’t assume everyone is.
