The 33% Defense Nerf

That crit chance and attack power are TBC era mele figures…

Cheat death is a sub rogue talent if I remember correctly.

9% hit is… Possible but why would you go beyond 7 or 8?

It’s been forever, but the stats don’t line up.

There is no way a warrior had 1104 AGI in Vanilla.

Also the INT 1026 is sky high too.

1047 spirt is also unrealistic.

1475 stamina would have been what 14,750 HP?

Is this a buffed screen shot from TBC or something wack?

You realize they are using the exact same files right?

Ahhhh…no.

Ya lost.

Cheat Death is from T3.

Also where the hell is that dude’s cape? Missing Cryptfiend’s Silk Cloak is a solid chunk of mitigation.

No,they’re only using the 1.12 series client.

The client has nothing to give regarding server side NPC data.

Also where is your proof?

Lots of us
have played the hell out of a leaked version of the code you know…

It’s between him and Ziryus for who has gotten me the most time off from forum vacations. I think he has given me a total of 2 weeks and Ziryus only got me 3 days.

I don’t think anyone is disputing the fact that he can crit, just that Hateful Strike can’t.

Also there is a fundamental difference between crushing and critical. Regardless 12k hits haven’t ever happened to me.

Well the 12k was an exaggeration for sure lol. If I knew the debate was going to go this far I would have used a more realistic number.

Haha ok. Yeah to be honest I don’t ever recall him hitting me above 10k. I’d concede 8 or 9k is possible when you don’t have Stoneshields rolling.

That claim seriously undermines the long hours of work the private server devs have put into the product they built.

Blizzard has already pointed out that there are some very different things in the private servers.

Regardless of that fact we wouldn’t be here now if it was not for their hard work.

Let’s not make the absurd claim that they’re accurate, because it’s not even remotely possible.

Probably should’ve used some more realistic screenshots instead that weren’t purposely intended to be misleading.

I do respect the oldschool 2004-2006 trashtalk though. Reminded me of Darkfalls forums for a moment, but it’s a quick way to get temp banned on these forums.

Blizzard is a business.

Do you really think they’d release a statement saying, “Hey guys these private servers got everything perfect. Don’t mind us.”

You’d be surprised the places you can find server code floating around…
I have a copy of TRO server code sitting around in a HD here somewhere…

Clearly Ziryus is an inferior because he’s a weak elf.

Keep your cool man, I will not be reporting ya.

Sapphiron comes to mind.

Ah gods, the min/maxers already theory crafting over blah blah blah def stats, blah blah. We never stressed over this stuff when playing before during that time period and frankly it’s a non-issue as things fill in naturally by the time you start raiding.

There honestly isn’t that much needed to be prepared enough to succeed at the starting raiding levels.

I don’t remember his attack speed. But it is pretty high.

BiS gear from Blackwing Lair with 5/5 Anticipation puts you at about 410 Defense Skill.

You can pick up another 14 from the ZG enchants (7 each), putting you at about 424 or so.

The other thing is that Agility gives you Dodge, and plenty of your items have either Dodge %, Parry% or Block% on them.

As long as you are keeping Shield Block charges up, a Crit or Crush should be impossible even below 440 Defense Skill.

Besides, the last theorycrafting says that healing tanks that are stacking Stamina and Armor (EH) is easier, more predictable and wastes less mana in Vanilla/Classic. That’s a whole other conversation though.

The combat mechanics of what bosses do to tanks didn’t change at all from Vanilla to BC. Crits, Crushes, Parry hastened attacks… all that stayed the same.

The main thing that changed was that Defense on gear was basically everywhere. It was relatively easy to get to 490 Defense Skill through pre-Raid blues, there was no reason not to.

BC was the era where it was possible to become un-hittable or “Block Capped” as some people say. Defense on gear was sky high in later tiers, so through a specific set you could passively not need to ever push Shield Block to guarantee that you will not be Crushed because an attack can only Miss, or be Dodged, Parried or Blocked. If you remember, Sunwell has a zone-wide debuff to basically bring tanks back down to earth, Sunwell Radiance.

I still would not call 490 Defense Skill required in BC. Shield Block works the same way. If your natural avoidance through Defense, plus any Dodge from Agility added up + 75% chance to Block from Shield Block together are >= 100% you cannot be Crit or Crushed.
