That would be incredibly shady, even for Blizzard.
if blizzard puts out rewards for this that aren’t “AMAZING” then their multi-month long “hype” regarding this event would have gone to waste.

Not really.
Not any different than when they said the wrath classic pre-event was open to retail and classic players.
Because it heavily implies Classic players will have their own event.
We are far apart on our definitions on the meaning of the term “developmental updates”.
Nah I want it to be everyone force to run like Jack Sparrow and that is it and when people complain they got no loot Blizz comes back with
" We never said you’d be getting anything "

well it is going to be implemented with a new patch, meaning that we are going to be losing at least one day of the event due to maintenance downtime.

If Blizzard says Retail and Classic players will be able to enjoy the event, it’s a pretty big assumption you have to make that they want you to play the other game.
I mean I agree you’re making a big assumption, it’s always been pretty clear it’s a retail event, they’re just clarifying that you don’t need to own DF to participate, which means Classic players can join too
And yet again, they did it with the Wrath Classic pre-event.
Retail players had to play Classic to get their reward from the event.
I already lost all hype after ages of no news for the game, but this killed even my curiosity. One limited time event (Hearthstone’s 10th Anniversary) immediately followed by another one? Ugh…

If that’s all they meant they would’ve said that lol. Pretty funny how the main interpretation on every platform is that there’s a classic event, and someone comes in defending fomo and saying “no no no, they’re saying play retail” lol.
Did they use the same wording?

And the Hearthstone event had to be hotfixed a couple of times to undo some boneheaded design decisions.

Looks more and more like this is a pirate thing.
Dead on arrival for me if that’s the case. Got my fill of that in BFA. I’d rather they’d spent the time and resources in this event to make the reclamation of Gilneas halfway decent.
