The 10.2.6 Content Update Arrives March 19

I mean, they literally had a giant pirate flag on the road map. We’ve known it was pirate related since they announced it?

I’m hoping this will be “limited time” until the end of the expansion and not “limited time” for “several weeks” until season 4.

well, blizzard has mentioned that there is a 10.2.6 patch for retail, they haven’t stated that there is any new patch for the classic game, so it would be logical to assume that all of the content within the patch will be on the retail servers.

given that classic players have a subscription that allow them to play retail, this isn’t too big of a leap.

Cool another event with probably a pirate xmog set, a pet parrot thats a slightly different color than the other 47 parrots, and maybe a mount or title for grinding it out. Then back to raid logging until either something fun happens or the guild dies. What a good game.

Blizzard actually thinks their super duper secret patch is gonna get between me and Dragons Dogma 2.
Riiiight.

Alright, I’ll tell you one thing.

it is open to anyone with a WoW subscription if they want to participate (Classic or Dragonflight players).
The Jolly Roger was part of the Retail WoW roadmap, not the Classic WoW roadmap, but the deliberate inclusion of Classic players suggests that all you need is a current subscription. Will this be an olde worlde event, with no requirement of access to the Dragon Isles?

It’s still incredibly weird wording to me, but I guess it can make sense that way.

Skull and cross bones is more than just a jolly roger. It’s also a universal symbol for poison, for example.

Don’t get me wrong, the obvious thought would be pirates just from the symbol, but people were also speculating a return of the brawler’s guild. I suppose it could still be that, but I’ll be as disinclined to participate in that as well.

I stand by my original point. Whatever time, effort, and resources going into 1.2.6 could have been spent to make the reclamation of Gilneas a decent questline.

I mean, Holly also posted a pirate flag emoji on twitter at the same time.

On a somewhat related note: How do you block someone on desktop? There’s some pretty toxic people in here…

Erm, they changed stuff so I have no idea now. D:

I don’t use twitter or follow it. Regardless, (in my opinion), pirates will be lame, and quite overdone at this point. I didn’t have much hope for something I personally would enjoy. Again, I think I’d rather they’d done Gilneas right than cut corners to push this out.

Still, I hope those who aren’t sick of pirates enjoy the event. Assuming it is pirates. Wouldn’t put it past blizzard to go, “Psych! We’re doing a Diablo event! Lol, you all thought it was pirates you gullible, gullible fools! Anyways if you want to get all the rewards you’ll also need copies of Diablo 2: Resurrected, Diablo III, and Diablo IV. If you’ve bought the original Diablo and Hellfire, you’ll get a cool toy!”

BFA was 6 years ago, and before that, the only pirates were the Bloodsail Buccaneers from Classic.

How is it overdone? O_o

Usually you can click on their icon, select “view activity” then on the upper right there will be a button/dropdown labled “normal”. One of the options if you click on it is “ignored”

It’s possible to add someone with a hidden profile to your ignore list manually. Go to your activity → preferences → users → and under ignore “add”

So you want to go to your profile. If you click the little square with your avatar in it, on the right hand side is a column with some icons. The bottom most icon opens your profile. Once on your profile, go to preferences (has a gear next to it), and then on the second bar below that, go to users. You can add users to ignore there.

Which is dumb, given that making it harder to ignore someone is the only thing having a hidden/private profile does.

It does not hide your post history (at least not effectively), it just makes it more annoying to ignore you.

It removes you from the “…is typing…” part at the bottom of the thread.

Entire Reason I have it on.

And the worgen pirates in Cata, the Vampirates in Legion. Venture co. in Northrend doesn’t quite cut it as pirates, but still.

I’m bored of pirates in WoW. So many stories they could choose to tell and focus on, and they do a pirate event.

Thanks, friends.

I had found it on mobile, but the dropdown menu for the timeframe wasn’t working.

I’d rather they cave to the people who want a pirate expansion and do a mini patch for it instead of making a pirate expansion down the line.

We already had a pirate expansion, but by all means, do another. It’ll be one I easily choose to skip. Just as I easily choose to skip this event (if its pirates).

Hope everyone who participates in it has a good time regardless.
