I’d love to be proven wrong, but I feel like there is 0.0001% chance this event isn’t a massive disappointment.
The severe audacity of people arguing against a pretty well-studied phenomenon in marketing and advertisement that companies objectively 100% exploit to their benefit is some major juvenile nonsense.
Yes timmy actually FOMO and time-limited offer gouging is all made up mumbo jumbo coined by jaded Blizzard-sama haters.
that banner is the Irontide from Freehold…
im actually hated on the forums for disliking a lot of things blizzard and the game do. sendryn even has me blocked over it.
but fomo is something i dont believe is a blizz problem so ill say it isnt
we didn’t make up the term time-limited offer here, blizzard stated it was a limited time event in the description above.
I feel like this will be just a dungeon based on the picture.
Fomo is a player problem, people admit that.
But what YOU refuse to admit is Blizzard puts players in the position where they have the problem.
Which is literally what FOMO is.
But blizzard is preying upon this common psychological aspect of the human animal, ergo the application of the term “fomo” to the event is entirely merited.
Depends on how the drops are, how long the event is.
Take this event for example: one week and the RNG isn’t all that great for some people. I’ve got friends who are subbed and play only a day or two a week, due to kiddos and whatnot. But they love the transmogs. We have yet to see the D4 event transmogs make their way back into the game, so they don’t want to miss out on these ones, but they aren’t getting the drops.
If the upcoming event is anything similar, just having a sub doesn’t suddenly make that fear go away…
you dont know if the event is never coming back
limited time could mean something like the valentine event
so pirate event with catch up gear that’s heroic raid ilvl that’s pirate themed. prolly a recoloured bird mount too. pass.
Its going to be Piratical Pugilism. Each day we go and fist fight a pirate, or a pug, or a piratical pug.
“Limited Time”, by definition, means something that might not return.
No one is being dramatic by stating that we should people who want their limited time event rewards with due respect.
I’m salty to this day for losing the Violet Spellwing because my PC died at the time and I had no money to replace it.
Edit: inb4 your snarky “deal with it” response
Considering they said this is an event for both Classic and Retail players… I highly doubt it’s catchup gear.
i just wish that timecap’n hooktail would call me back…
sigh…
That’s my point?
Okay, I can appreciate a SURPRISE for content, but this is just getting annoying. No info AT ALL? This isn’t a “Development update” this is a release date announcement… I am all for surprises in the game but Blizz also does not have the best track record for untested content. Thinking back to Dragonflight launch and the Ships / Airships breaking… and those were AFTER an ALPHA AND BETA with multiple load tests. The current event doesn’t even work well with sharding and doesn’t even handle the load of people doing it to the point they had to extend the event and increase the spawn time…
I genuinely hope this is a killer event and blows us all away… but going COMPLETE secret for this patch / event after being AMAZING on communication and content for the entire dragonflight expansion is throwing me so far off that I worry this big play for hype is going to be for a buggy event that many players wont even get the best part of the event… (WHo got the love rocket this year again!?)
Do you not know what the term “limited time” means?
They don’t refer to recurring holidays as limited time. They have never once referred to them as limited time. They refer to them, shockingly, as holidays.
That does suck, I remember being in the “Oh I’ll just do it next week” mindset for a large amount of mage tower appearances…next week never came children.
oh… a limited timed event is no good.
