What were you expecting, a raid like the Battle of Dazar’alor?
I didn’t know what I expected, but that wasn’t it lol. But, oh well, at least I got a mount, a transmog, and got to listen to a brief, but outstanding, performance by the Greymane voice actor.
My guess is a lot of people were hoping for something along the lines of the scenarios where the Alliance invaded the Undercity…twice lol.
Granted, if you are a newer player, you might not have a clue what those are. I don’t know if the original is still in the game but the second one was just straight up deleted lol.
It wasn’t deleted. If you wanna do the Siege of Lordaeron there’s an npc at the base of the Mage tower for alliance and on the bridge near the valley of wisdom where all the Tauren are in orgrimmar that will let you queue for it.
Which one? There are two.
BFA. The wotlk one is straight up deleted though.
I always do the fourth war campaign on all my toons for character depth and I always start with the siege then begin the campaign. It’s too bad they straight up deleted the war of thorns too.
I mean, I expect most quest things to take at least 30-45 minutes. It was advertised and hyped as something more “epic” - not less then 10 mins, maybe 10 quests at most. It was pathetic
They honestly shouldn’t even have created this scenario. This reminds me of BFA, when they used N’zoth and Azshara as the main villains, but it was so half-a.ssed that they should have used alternate villains that we don’t care about as much in their stead.
We all agree that an event as important as reclaiming Gilneas is something that needs to be given the developer attention that it deserves. If they’re just going to half-a.ss it, they might as well not even bother doing it, and push it back until they have a capable and passionate team to create the scenario.
The mystery in our heads as to what could potentially happen in a proper reclaiming of Gilneas is infinitely more interesting than the slop they fed us. Again, the same situation as with Azshara and N’zoth in BFA.
One of the few good things I can say about Dragonflight’s story arc is that it all consisted of characters we don’t care about (with Wrathion being the sole exception). The story was terrible, but at least it didn’t waste potentially cool, yet-unused characters, how BFA did.
Yet if they did anything but you you would have made a thread complaining it was too long and overwhelming.
You know its true. We all do.
Phase 1: The Alliance and the Horde arrive separately, with Genn not knowing of the Forsaken presence. The two factions work opposite of each other in the zone, clearing out the outskirts of the city and establishing footholds within sacked Scarlet Crusade camps. This phase culminates in a joint assault on the royal family’s mansion, where Genn finally learns the Forsaken are here and attacks. Tess is able to defuse the situation and convince her father that they need the Horde’s help to retake the city, and Genn ultimately relents, though more out of recognizing that the Scarlet Crusade is a much bigger threat currently than a single Horde strike force. He makes it clear that the truce is off the moment he even catches a whiff of ulterior motives, however. Phase 1 concludes with the two factions forming a truce and working together
Phase 2: from their newly established cliffside base at the mansion, the combined Alliance and Horde forces are able to mount more large-scale attacks, with the Forsaken’s bat riders enabling them to take out the Crusade’s aerial forces, and the Worgen packleaders led by Darius Crowley able to strike swiftly through the lower woods. The two forces gradually press inward and toward the docks, ultimately pushing the Crusade out and establishing a port for reinforcements to arrive in. It’s here where there is some story, showing the remnants of the Forsaken’s attack on Gilneas so many years ago. Callia would probably show genuine sorrow and disgust over the broken down plague launchers and the long-lasting devastation the blight had on the area around them, and Genn, while still not fully trusting her motives, can at least start to recognize that the new Forsaken leadership is different from Sylvanas
Phase 3: With the sea route secure and the Crusade effectively boxed within Gilneas itself, the time for the final push arrives. While the main forces push in to create a distraction, the players/small strike team is sent through the escape tunnels and into the heart of the city, disrupting the already panicking Scarlets and opening up entrances around the city to let the forces in. A massive battle takes place, perhaps even show off a few big name Crusade members that may or may not have larger roles within the coming expansion, and cap off with a very familiar scene: Genn facing down the barrel of a gun, as the main leader of the Crusade within Gilneas can at least boast about taking down the leader of the monstrous Worgen, mirroring a similar situation back in Cataclysm with him and Sylvanas. As Tess rushes in to protect her father, Genn has nightmarish flashbacks to his son sacrificing himself for the same thing. This time however, Tess is protected by Callia, providing her a protective barrier with her priestly powers, and the Scarlet leader is forced to retreat into the town hall by a sneak attack from Lillian Voss. Genn, shaken from this event, sends the player and their allies in to finish the job, and a hopefully way more exciting boss fight caps off the scenario than the one we actually got.
There you go, Blizzard. I rewrote the scenario for you to make it way more eventful, way more like a…well, event that gets the players excited for it, without even changing the main story beats. Took me like 20 minutes
I agree…but you have to realize this game is no longer made for us “old guard” devs will only every ignore us
Gilneans also got some recognition from Tess (though, strangely, no recognition of my Rogue) and Genn as well as a toy.
Hey, you need to be grateful for the… really goofy looking gilnean armor we have now
What a great read! That actually gave me a mild case of goose bumps! Well done! Unfortunately it lasted only a second before reality kicked back in and I remembered that this is, in fact, not what we got.
Or even a flight path.
