The Good:
I thought the end cinematic was nice.
All races of the Alliance are there to support their allies.
The Forsaken presence is very minimal, basically just being Calia and Voss within eyesight.
Gilneas is reclaimed, with and Innkeeper, a Bank, and Mailboxes.
I liked the Fox mount.
The Bad:
Regardless of how logical the decision, Gilneas is now led by a non-Worgen Human. The Worgen already get so little focus, having a non-Worgen as the racial leader only hurts more.
Gilneas as a city is half baked and does not even have a flightmaster, portals, or a boat that a lot of people thought that dock was for. Nor does it have an Auction House, Transmog, Profession Trainers, or the Gilnean Faction Quartermaster. Aside from a Bank NPC, it has the same amount of amenities as Goldshire.
Gilneas is effectively neutral and Horde can do whatever they want.
I like the transmog set for what it is, but by principal, the joke of a Worgen heritage armor set already covers “Ballroom attire” and it would’ve been nice to get an actual armor set that you’d actually wear in battle. So while I like the set, it only confirms that Blizz views the Worgen as nothing more than fluffy british doggies who like to wear top hats and monacles.
That said, I use the Worgen Transmog on my Worgen Hunter, strictly for the Top Hat. I generally don’t care about any other armor, but the head needs to be appropriately decorated. As the Jagermonsters say in Girl Genius, “Any plan where you lose your hat, is a bad plan.”
Also, where the actual hell were Darius and Lorna Crowley?
Man, the more I think about this event the angrier it makes me. I made a whole brand new worgen druid specifically for this event, and at the end of it all it barely even feels like a questline chapter
Not even a flight master. They even opened up the next wing of the Mage Tower Portal room but no portal. Or a boat, which is weird because people on the PTR said they added a dock presumably for a boat and nothing.
Sadly this is what I’ve come to expect from Blizzard these days. Something as big a deal as reclaiming Gilneas rightly should have been something lush with content, the opportunities are certainly brimming for it, but modern Blizzard just doesn’t care about using its vast rich world to immerse its players anymore.
Microsoft needs to be cracking that whip pronto, this IP deserves way better quality than this slop.
It’s one thing if it’s like that quest with Shandris spying on the Incarnates as a lead in to the Emerald Dream stuff.
This is a literal invasion to retake a Kingdom that’s been abandoned/occupied since Cata. The random quests with the Tauren in Ohn’aran Plains earlier in the expansion was longer than this.
I think the worst part is that there was nothing special for worgen players. I heard the toy at the very end was worgen only (big whoop) but then other players were saying they got it as non-worgen.
Either way I wanted more as a worgen player. I was hoping for a re-color of our god awful heritage armor.
That’s the theme of any patch that has more than 1 decimal point in it.
x.1, x.2, x.3 etc are proper content patches that might have an hour or two of questing + new zone and raid and such.
x.x.5 patches can sometimes have meaningful content. Depends how they’re spreading stuff out that expansion. In the past you could expect them to be systems updates and catchup stuff more than actual content.
Dragonflight has been doing multiple micropatches between the x.1s and the x.x.5s and every single one is a load of nothing. This patch was one of them. I believe we still have one more according to the roadmap, likely to be just as empty.
Idk about y’all but I’d be fine with them not trying to continue this trend in future expansions. It’s clearly not enough time for them to actually develop things. They re-released the same event with a different coat of paint and called it a patch like 3 different times already in Dragonflight.
People are disappointed that Worgen doesn’t have tails when it’s supported nowhere in the lore and continues to be funny. Like sure they can have Worgen spontaneously start having them I guess, but there’s no basis for it.
