I would say the valorstone grind is one of the most boring things ever put in the game. Once you get 80 the only thing you have to do is to grind heroics for a small amount of valor stones to upgrade your gear. If you choose not to mindlessly grind heroics your guild is probably benching you once the raid is out.

Grinding heroic dungeons / using Valorstones to upgrade heroic gear is extremely inefficient compared to just doing world content for stones / crests and banking the stones and using crests to upgrade crafted items.

Haven’t done a single heroic and am close to cap on valorstones. Waiting to see what gear the new season brings before upgrading anything.

You get Valorstones from a TON of stuff.

I was maxed out and not spending them. I probably burned away a couple hundred.
edit: I just do not know what to do with them save slight gear upgrades.

I did grind heroics on my main (since I wanted heroic ilvl gear), but I also wanted Valorstones on my alts so I could make their sparks with 250 Valorstones.
I didn’t want to grind heroics on my alts and was able to get the Valorstones pretty easily:
- World quests give 10 by default (some give more as their primary reward)
- Awakening the Machine gives like 100
- Opening treasures

Valorstone yield has been way too low IMO compared to DF.
This is likely due to less sources (WQs/events).
It needs to be at least tripled IMO.

How many flightstones did N and H dungeons give in Dragonflight?
I think players are used to getting flighstones in M+ and by comparison 10 for N and 30 for H in TWW seems really low.
They should increase the amount of valorstones that drop.

Collect odd globs of wax while you’re out in the world. You can turn in 5 wax for 10 valorstones.

Frankly, I don’t think there should be two forms of currency for upgrading gear. If I do X content for crests, why do I also have to have ample amounts of another currency that you don’t even have to do any difficult content to acquire, just to use the crests I farmed to upgrade with?
It’s a blatant time-sink, and while I suck it up and just do it, it’s pretty annoying.

I just couldn’t imagine putting tons of effort into upgrading heroic dungeon gear right now lol. But you do you.
I just try to keep my valorstones uncapped.

Nor could I, if I didn’t have basically 2 weeks of nothing else to do in-game. I can farm some ilvl and make group invites/initial content easier on myself, or be the 3,000,000th 570ilvl toon begging to get into M0’s when they open.

Given that you get valorstones from almost everything you do, it’s hardly a grind. You don’t have to do dungeons to get the stones, and in fact, doing dungeons is probably the slowest and least efficient way to obtain them.
Just play the game–whatever suits your fancy–and you’ll cap out on them without even trying.
Honestly, you have to go looking for things to be upset about to land on “Oh, the valorstone grind is killing me” because it isn’t a grind unless you literally don’t want to play the game. If that’s the case, then find a game you do want to play.
I’m sure there will be things to complain about in TWW. I’ve already gone in on how unreasonable and even absurd some of the mat requirements are for recipes. Valorstones, though? Really? They’re handed out like candy for pretty much everything you touch, open, or turn in.
Edited to add: If you’re burning through your valorstones, consider whether you’re upgrading things you shouldn’t be upgrading and/or replacing items after you upgraded. Choose one item per slot to upgrade and then keep it. I’ve been waiting for the last minute to upgrade only what I know I’m keeping, and I’ll use the stones to bump ilvl right before we head into M0 with whatever I’ve got left.
We’re going to replace literally everything as soon as M0 drops, anyway, and if your guild is that nasty about heroic dungeons, of all things, for goodness’ sake, find nicer people to play with.

I wish they would increase the amounts that drop. The lowest form of gear currency being a barrier should not be a thing.
Kind of like it’s insane that the lowest form of enchanting material is the rarest and most expensive.
