Thank You Cdev : )

Words can’t express how happy I am with how you all handled Sylvanas.

Your team stayed true to the lore and lore fans like me are very happy because of that.
Hats off!

17+ years Sylvanas fan here and at this rate I will be here another 17 years!

I was expecting the worst.

I’m still pinching myself to wake up from this dream.

I appreciate that Steve Danuser is a Sylvanas fan because at the end of the day he delivered what all her fans wanted; giving her a fair shot.

I’m finally excited for the future of this story. Her book coming out in Feb is the cherry on top.

TBH Alex Afrasiabi stated a while back that Sylvanas is beloved by fans and staff alike. I didn’t doubt it for a second.

I can’t even think about that right now. Its like I’m stuck in a dream; I feel like Sylvanas at the end of the cinematic.

I’m so exciting to see what’s to come.

Um…they put all the uncool parts of her character into her making the very reason why you liked her: her free will and edginess moot.

This is a win-win-win situation.

  1. Sylvanas comes back and is whiter than snow has no resemblance to w/e parts of her personality I like. - Its fine because I will be happy with the simple fact that she will have a clean death/happy ending when cdev decides to axe her.

  2. Sylvanas comes back and is exactly the same, save her mustache twirling Saturday morning drip.

  3. Sylvanas character comes back and is actually 10 times better/interesting/intriguing than before.

Like how can we not be happy for that? Like how?

No he did not. He is not writing for Sylvanas since may years now. Who ever was responcible it wasn’t Danuser.

If this is ironic then ha, but if not then I cant see how you’re happy.

Because right now, everyone who will hurt / want to harm sylvanas will be told that’s unjust. And mark my words, even blizzard will do it.

Its the ultimate plotarmor. In exchange sylvanas will “regret” here and there…

A fair shot would have been not putting her through this wringer of a story in first place.

Doesn’t that COMPLETELY invalidate her character

BfA did that already.

They were already paving the way for the Heroes to forgive Sylvanas with the Crossroads cinematic. The noble heroes will not dissapoint.

Sylvanas will be forgiven.

Maybe but at least it showed she’s just as naive as the rest of them.

Well, the cinematic was interesting and a bit revelatory, with new information and plot progression. Which is nice. But it wasn’t like…super well acted or dramatic or action packed. It didn’t have that impact of, say, Sylvanas fighting Bolvar, or Illidan blasting Xera to bits. But it was fine. I am looking forward to where the story is going from here.

It seems like more of a cliff hanger than a stand alone piece of story. But, it was nice.

I just can’t buy into what their selling. That this moment in her whole alleged career of service with the jailor was when she should have her blinding revelation or epiphany.

I can easily suspend disbelief that she actually wanted to build a just reality so much, she got lost in the prospect of the ends justify the means.

The real goosebump moment will be if the Horde (or the Forsaken at the very least) choose to let her back in… or not.

At this point I cannot tell if DiF is being ironic all these years or they’re lobotomized.

It wasn’t though was it? The doubts started showing as soon as he chose to abandon Denathrius. Then they were compounded when he chose to make Sylvanas force Anduin to serve them instead of convincing him to choose their side (as unlikely as that may have been). And then only recently she found out Nathanos had been killed and she never heard a thing about it despite the way the Shadowlands are right now meaning that Zovaal should be 100% aware of the situation. Pretty much everything this expansion after she ripped open the veil has been Sylvanas frowning as the Jailer did a thing, right up until the end, when he pretty much straight up said ‘since I was enslaved now I’m going to enslave everyone else as payback’. That was not the deal - or at least she didn’t think it was - Sylvanas consistently played for Freedom, even if it was only ever her freedom.

In the end it wasn’t some sudden epiphany that turned her against him - it was his actions revealing their partnership to be entirely one sided. Which, okay, that part should have been obvious, but here we are. I guess Zovaal dumped all his stats into Charisma and has some pretty sick Deception rolls.

I think that it sucks that they’re indulging loyalists to the extent that they are at the expense of everyone who isn’t a loyalist.

Well at least some people are happy with this s***show. Though I truly wonder how you can be a Sylvanas fan and not acknowledge the absolute damage they have done to her character, to the point that they have to retcon all her actions since wc3 to “a broken soul”.

The fact that the same Sylvanas from wc3 couldn’t see the signs of the Jailer despite him being an absolute tyrant looks really bad on her character. How did she miss the obvious signs?? Why does she need to be a complete soul - a different character from her wc3/TBC iterations- to have even some shred of decency?
