Testing my dps traits is expensive!

I love the new raid. The new traits are cool and all - but now that upgrades are flowing, I’ve had to spend SO MUCH GOLD testing out the different combinations to figure out what’s best for my playstyle.

It’s great that we have target dummies, but when a player has to spend tens of thousands of gold to figure out what traits are best for their character and playstyle, I think something is wrong.

This gets further compounded when you’re trying to test traits across multiple specs; especially for classes that say- tank in raids, dps in dungeons, and heal in pvp.

At the very least - could we go back to the Legion style mechanic where traits switched when you swapped to a different spec?

Why not just use Simcraft (via Raidbots) to get an idea of your best gear and traits, then go from there? Would save you a bunch of gold and time.

I don’t trust 3rd party sites like raidbots or wowhead. Going on them always lags my computer down and I run into issues. I prefer to use what Blizzard provides. It’s safe and they provide sufficient means of testing through the target dummies and combat log.

Also - simming doesn’t take into account an individuals unique playstyle.

In that case, I hope you have lots of gold!

I have never heard of raidbots ever lagging a person’s computer. Ever. I have only heard of wowhead lagging a person’s computer if they don’t use something like uBlock or Adblocker (and every browser should have this anyways).

I am really…hesitant…to believe that raidbots actually lags any PC (made in the last 10 years). The people that maintain the website (and simc) are some of the most respected members of the community.

Yeah you’re not supposed to try stuff out yourself, you’re supposed to use third party sites and mods to tell you how to play the game. It’s like you’ve never played an RPG before. Oh wait…

Why would game designers make it so you have to go somewhere external to play their game optimally? Does Blizzard get income from sites like WoWhead and Raidbots somehow?

You say this like people haven’t done this literally the entire life of WoW.

This has been happening in WoW since day 1.

Yeah, I was pointing out that WoW isn’t an RPG. It’s a slot machine with an RPG skin and tolkien-esque themes. Also some Lovecraft.

Are you new to gaming? Ever played destiny? Try talking to people to make a group. Oh wait…

Oh. You are one of those people that make up your own personal definition to RPG that has nothing to do with the actual definition.

Got it.

Sorry buddy. WoW always has been, and continues to be an RPG.

Get an ad blocker… or better yet, get a better computer.

Why? Because it has quests and EXP? Okay.

My computer runs WoW just fine. Not sure why I’d need to upgrade it in order to play the game.

Could always just go to bloodmallet an see what your best traits to stack are really isnt difficult

I didn’t say anything about WoW. You were complaining about lag on 3rd party sites. I provided a solution to that.

I mean… You’re perfectly able to try it out yourself in game. It’s just more efficient to do some things with external tools than with what the devs provided. Just like any other game with mod/third party support.

Because nearly every definition from a neutral party you will find will more or less define a “RPG” as a game where you take on a role/character, and interact with the game’s imaginary world.

People on the WoW forums just like to make up their own personal definition, and they go out of their way to make sure it can exclude WoW.

If you think those third party sites are telling you how to play you are doing it wrong.

They just provide raw mathmatical data you can then use to decide how you want to play.
