Testing Adding Damage Reduction to PvP

The 25 percent damage reduction DID affect hunter pets and in fact Hunter pets were weaker in BG’s because they did not benefit from the damage reduction when it came to incoming damage.

Now we get to see which is more useful the extra stam on pvp gear or the raw damage output on pve gear. with a 25%+ damage reduction kinda curious to see the effects.

When we are doing Naxx level DPS with a fraction of the health pool PvP just becomes glass cannon simulator. This change is certainly needed.

Any update on 20+ minutes wait for BGs during primetime?

Yeah there is, it’s called “don’t add a damage reduction aura” People get globald on classic era all the time… no damage reduction aura needed there. It’s a trash change that only benefits healers and classes that can heal and have defensives. All the people who cry probably skey and complain that they cant stand still and heal to full hp. It’s a boaring change that makes for a boaring game.

The game is actually pretty balanced at the moment. Some classes are behind others sure, but that doesn’t require a global damage reduction that does nothing to address how powerful healing is. I am sure half the people complaining are wearing irradiated sets and getting obliterated. The good players can deal with a high bust meta and enjoy it. But the bad players that have no game sense can’t figure out what to do. So they cry and demand nerfs… Boaring

BG’s are going the be a crapshow this weekend if both this damage reduction aura AND the stam buff aura’s are active.

If this is a test, please turn off the stam buff in BGs to get an accurate idea

Thank you ( and to the rest of the Dev team ) for keeping us in the loop w/ your thoughts. You’ve done a great job w/ SoD so far, however, I logged in specifically to say this is not the proper-solution.

Coming from a healer that is constantly trying to combat one-shots w/ heals, this is not the path. Ya’ll know that considering you’ve tried it many times in the past.

This, along w/ the changes regarding the limitation of certain Runes to require “spec~specific” abilities, as well as transfers from PvP to PvE are all steps in the Wrong Direction. You’re smarter than this.

If a rune requires a specific talent (especially one at the bottom of a tree) to activate it ceases to be a choice … and PvP to PvE transfers are limited for reason. Thank you for reading my input. Keep up the good work but please reconsider.

If there is no time for counter play, then PvP is broken. This change should hopefully allow fights to be longer, allowing counter play as well as a challenge to those who cannot global anymore.

The whiners win again. I give it 1 month before resilience gear is added to SoD.

I think this is fine, maybe a flat 25% damage reduction. However classes with self heals should have a 25% healing reduction in open world. Class with dots should not be able to cast 2 dots shield and disperse to win averaging 470 dps (including crits) with recent changes to shadow priest, that’s absurd. Same as my pet should not be able to solo some classes. Only issue is how do you make self healing classes not OP, and how do you the make it so ranged doesn’t have every advantage by hitting one button ie starfalls. Regardless worth a try to see how it goes and iterate from there. I personally think the stam buff in bgs should be applicable, as well as Damage reduction of sort. Resistance buff and damage reduction maybe.

Will this also effect PVE mechanics that mind control players? (example: last boss in ST making players hostile to others)

While a good point, that is probably minor in terms of the overall. But might as well.

If you get globaled as a resto shaman by any class you are playing naked.
