Testing Adding Damage Reduction to PvP

My shaman does more damage with ancestral guidance + healing wave than any other damaging spell.

This is the absolute worse test to come from SOD. Who approved this? You made PVP/BG insanely boring. Anyone crying that classes are to bursty obviously cant play the game properly. Anyone who likes this change is over the age of 65 —change my mind.

It was too bursty, but this change is a terrible “solution.” If they hadn’t been lazy when constantly rolling out buffs, this wouldn’t have happened. They need to individually tune down some classes/specs or find a way to have abilities scale depending on whether you’re in PvE or PvP combat. Again, they’re just lazy and/or incompetent.

I am pretty sure it’s not even working correctly either - I just took a FrostFire crit for 923 and a Starfire crit for 1267…

Highly disagree, It was the right kind of bursty. Classic is bursty an now its super boring and lame. If you agree with this change your the problem.

So you want SOD pvp to just be like cata classic and retail. Fastest I’ve ever decided to stop playing a version of wow. Might just be done after this. First the insanely long fights in BG’s. Not capping BS in AB cause they had 3 priests that we couldn’t kill to watching 3 rogues unable to kill a bear druid who could run away n full heal after they used every cooldown and thistle tea…GG u catered to the losers who dont pvp but made toons on a pvp server.

Hopefully you’re not implying that I “agree with this change.” If so, re-read my post. The change is terrible and not even close to the right approach. I would rather go back to how it was. However, the way it was before Friday, certain classes were way too overpowered:

Ret Paladins
Shadow Priests
Hunters
Balance Druids

I think self healing can be cut down by 15% and reduction down to 40% - seems that would be a sweet spot possibly.

Don’t let them fool you into thinking in terms of this “solution.” It went entirely in the wrong direction, so reducing by XX% instead of 50% is speaking in the wrong terms to begin with. They only did this because it’s lazy and doesn’t force them to do any real work. at the end of the day, they only care about money, and since this is just a seasonal version, they are experimenting with whatever pops into their barely creative minds (e.g., re-using spells from Retail as most of the runes).

Shamans were nerfed recently. Has that happened for Ret Paladins? Nope. I will say…I respect you posting on an actual SoD character. A lot of people here hide behind alts or retail characters to avoid criticism.

No it doesn’t its boring af now. I can heal for so long without really being threatened its ridiculous.

Pretty much this. The fights are fun and dynamic so long as there’s no healers. Healers are so OP, they trivialize any group fight. So while the change overall is very good (outside of healing), it’s also completely pointless if they don’t fix healing.

Im not playing until its reverted back to normal. I already quit BGs and now world PVP is killed. Thanks for catering to ppl who play n pvp servers but hate classic style fast passed fast fights…This is pretty much cata classic pvp without the toolkits and res gear. At least in retail and those versions u have the choice to do more dmg n have no res or do less dmg n have res. I HAVE NEVR decided to not play faster than I have this weekend. Just got my rofue 3p set from temple i wanted to try out in the world and my mytilate and ambush hit like a wet noodle. Even with consumables i cant do enough dmg. GG BLIZZ u catered to the babies once again.

This is a great way to get everyone who cares about PvP to quit the game. Flat damage reduction to everyone isn’t fun. If you had certain classes struggling to survive in combat you should have just buffed those classes instead.

Take my class for example, rogue. Its such a poorly designed class in SoD’s pvp that the only way I could actually secure kills is to catch people off guard. Either burst them quickly from stealth before they can react, or keep them locked in a chain of CC. That’s not fun for me either.

But if I don’t do that then I’m dead. Why? Because I lack the tools to survive a real fight. If a caster puts all their dots on me then I die because guess what? I have no cleanse. I have no heals. Even if I win the fight, I’ll die after. You fix this by giving me things like cloak of shadows, so I have counterplay to the dots. So I can make a window of opportunity in a group fight to get people to stop focusing me, and attack someone else, so I actually have the ability to participate in the fight. Cheat death would help as well. Every struggling class in PvP can give you similar abilities that would help much better than a blanket damage nerf.

A nerf which only serves to screw over all the offensive based classes in the game. Since our damage and resources aren’t designed for prolonged fights. Go back to me as a rogue, my energy will get exhausted from my opener and now I have to wait 6 full seconds to get enough energy ticks just to use my main offensive ability. In six seconds I’m either going to die or they will heal back up to full and I’ll have even less of a chance to kill them. Mana classes are the same way, you eventually run out of mana. It costs more mana to do damage than to heal (should be the other way around).

If I want to fall asleep to pvp where only classes who can survive and play the attrition game get to have funI’ll go play retail instead. Classic is supposed to be fast paced. If you’re out of position or you wasted your CDs you should die instantly and get punished for it. Seeing who can stay awake the longest without making a mistake to win pvp is more of a retail thing.

I want to see the big numbers on my screen. If I get the BiS weapon I want to see big crits one or twoshotting people. I don’t want to put all this hard work and effort into a weapon that hits like a wet noodle.

cloak of shadows is the most OP BS they should never give rogues

The game is better now. Keep overpowered mages, boomkins, and sp can’t fathom the fact that they actually have to play the game now

I would be okay with cloak on a 3 min CD that doesn’t persist and only cleanses dots or maybe persists for 2 seconds as a counter for a big spell.

I’m wearing plate and get 100-0d by rogues outside of my trinket all the time while I sit there unable to play my class. I agree that isn’t fun for either of us and I agree that having some counterplay would be nice.

As for this damage reduction, it’s just a carpet bomb when what we really needed was precision strikes. You’re killing innocent civilians, Blizz!
