Tested some level 40 builds...hunter rules

Just for kicks I made each of the different classes in beta with the level 40 boost template.

Hunter is hands down faster than any other class. I went BM and could kill a level 42 wolf about as fast as the mage I made (not quite as fast) but with near zero loss of mana or health.

I did not see how the aoe grind of mage is going to work…might be missing something there. How do you manage to group up enough mobs in one spot to make it worthwhile?

I will say the amount of spells and tools you get as mage as level 40 is astounding. buffs, teleports, food, drink, slows. Having never played a mage, it was daunting.

1 vs 1? that’s cute. Key to mage is like prot pally, grab 10 mobs and kill all at once.

Now do the same, but grab twenty wolves and see which class can pull it off.

How? I went to hinterlands (closest flight path from ironforge) and the mobs seem too spread out to grab 10. By the time you run around and collect 10, the hunter has killed 10.

The trick is to grab mobs that are clustered.

Hunters are notoriously easy and are usually played by the least skilled players due to simplicity and forgiving nature of their pet and damage. So much so they are known as Huntards for lacking any sort of self awareness or skill in game, thus causing a lot of grief for other players when in groups.
I’m not trying to be offensive, it’s just how it is with Hunters. EZ-mode

Nice. Is the gun sound the original?

I will say that a hunter pet is worlds beyond a voidwalker. I could pull agro off my voidwalker with a wand

its updated with silent pewpewpew to be subsonic with a suppresor

Suppressed firearms still produce at least 85 decibels of sound. That’s still quite loud without hearing protection.

I don’t think mage aoe grinding will be very successful because of how full the servers will be. It’s going to be pretty hard to find 10 untouched mobs unless you are ahead of the Zerg and only a few people will be. My bet is a hunter will beat out any mage trying to aoe grind.

Based on that, it still makes sense to go full frost on mage though right?

But see that’s the best part of a hunter. Easy, but when you know what you’re doing you reap the real rewards of the class.

How about the old Welrod that’s like 70db that is like normal speaking volume. Perfect for that one and done i n the back of the head especially in a crowded room.

The Voidwalker’s ability to hold aggro jumps each time she get her training grimoires, and then slides down again. I don’t remember the levels she got them in vanilla but you may have been in the trough?

did you just assume the void walkers gender?

The problem with suppressors is they can’t fully mute the sound. Not all of the sound comes straight out of the barrel. Some escapes from the chamber as a shell is expelled. You would have to fully enclose the gun inside something in order to fully mute the sound it makes. They are still loud enough to be heard throughout a house like slamming a door loud but typically not loud enough for the neighbors to hear.

Nope! PC Voidwalkers (at least in vanilla/TBC) were femaie. If you went to the Lost Fleet in the Wetlands, where you got transformed/illusioned into an undead, the Voidwalker could also get changed, and would be female.

If I had written “he”, would you have concluded I was assuming gender?

yes…Because I was unaware that it had a gender lol

Frost single target is fine. Consistent and safe. Fire is more volatile and on average kills mobs faster but with more mana(which I prefer). It can also make sense to go frost since even if you go fire you are gonna put a point or 2 into elemental precision

I leveled a mage both pre & post mage review in Vanilla and both times I enjoyed leveling as fire more. I especially loved Fire-Shatter after the mage review(originally shatter only worked with frost). You don’t get shatter til near the end(probably do a respec) but it makes getting through the end a blast. I have fond memories at the end of Vanilla Fire AoE shattering the undead hordes in the open world during the Naxx event(mount gatherer - nova - flamestrike - blast wave - AE spam - CoC(if needed) - AE).

Considering I’ll be spending a lot of raids early on slinging frostbolts I’ll be leveling fire again.

I’ve done AoE Frost as well and it really depends on their being no one else in a large area and it can be sketchy without a mount early on. If you’ve never done it before it can feel pretty cool though and I recommend trying it out at some point if you never played back in the day.
