Sounds like you’re talking about Classic+. While I’d like to see that, there’s really no financial reason Bilzz would commit the resources to brand new development when they could just re-release TBC and run it in maintenance mode.
Oh for sure. Actually developing a large new code base rather than releasing the same code actually takes some effort. A small indie studio like Blizzard surely can’t pull that off.
It’s not about not having the resources. They just don’t appear to be willing to use them for that.
Think about it like this. If you could spend $100 to earn $150, or spend $25 to earn $125, which would you choose?
Flying in TBC wasn’t that big of a deal. Half of the raid content including Kara Hyjal and Sunwell happened in no fly zones and those were the content that mattered.
By the time you get flying, you’ve already explored the “awesome” world. It’s just a waste of time after that. You don’t need to sightsee every time you want to do something.
Flying is great.
Of course I would choose the latter in your particular scenario.
However, we don’t know what the actual financial impacts are. Blizzard totally underestimated the success of the Classic release in the first place. It would be interesting to see if TBC Classic is an actual success. Personally, based on just the pserver numbers, I think it would not even be anywhere close to the scope of Classic.
I’ve heard that TBC didn’t perform as well on pservers. If that was the case here, they’d just rush Wrath servers out.
Okay? well you don’t have to play it if you don’t want to.
I agree with the original post that adding flight was a serious mistake. That said, apart from that and a few other things, TBC was a great expansion.
I agree, TBC is Vanilla but better.
They are not going to buff bosses/trash mobs in raids though, just like they didn’t in Classic.
That’s a shame because it would be fun to have it as it was when it went live kinda thing, even if that means buffing mobs and bosses like private servers already do to accommodate for the end of expansion classes. There is a lot the private servers do so well, blizzard could learn a lot from them.
Agreed 10000000%, but I will take a Blizzard server, if nothing else. Most of my current guild are hyped for TBC, which makes me so happy
Yeah I am super excited too, arena and dungeons with harder modes, and raid encounters that are a little harder are totally awesome, especially the arena!
then you clearly didnt play tbc on release
Flying was a great addition to the game, it’s nice to have new toys to play with. What they should have done was implement some kind of restriction to it like a flight timer and cooldown on summoning your flying mount.
Could have thrown in some RP reason why you can only summon your flying mount once every hour or 2 hours, your mount gets tired or something. Same for flight time, your mount can’t fly forever and will need to land after so long in the air. Could be something like 2-5 minutes of flight time, enough to get to the areas designed for flight.
For areas like the rep grind for the netherwing drake mount, I forget what it’s called atm…add in some magical reason why your allowed to fly a little longer, enough time to complete certain quests/dailies, but only in the area required.
Blizzard adding in unlimited flight time and unlimited flying mount summons is what screwed up flying in TBC. All that said, it’s TBC Classic, leave it alone. Try asking for #changes in retail. Stop with trying to change TBC Classic already like everyone is trying to change Classic to fit their desires. It should be brought back as it was as much as possible.
Because “good” and “bad” are completely subjective terms. This thread is a case in point. A bunch of players are chiming in to agree that flying is “bad,” and the rest of us are chiming in to say that flying was the best addition to the game ever. How is Blizzard going to decide what to leave out and include? They’ve already second guessed themselves many times over. The current Retail version is the culmination of years of taking the “better” pieces of the game and leaving out the “bad.” Unfortunately for me, those decisions were made by high end raiders and obsessed equestrians. If I’m going to play TBC, I want to play the version that was designed by reasonable people, not pony enthusiasts.
People like you are dumb.
Barely anyone complained about flying being bad for the game during BC. Most people actually welcomed flying.
