If yes I’ll take one… if not I’ll pass.
They said no professions
No professions…
However, I think they should give you x2 (300 skill) professions and let you level the rest of the way.
Also, you could level a character up in Classic and build up the professions… and then boost the toon. I believe the professions that you have leveled would stay in tact.
Giving the new accounts 0/375 professions will at least curb the botting problem a little. Bots will have to go farm the barrens or whatever before they can make it into the outlands which will hopefully slow them down a little…
Might as well give boosts full Naxx sets while we are at it, they need to be on par with their friends and were not able to raid Naxx after all.
Please just pass on it and stay in retail. Thank you!
I have a warrior at level 60 with 300/300 but was considering boosting a warlock… I will probably main a paladin for AE dungeon spamming (or if I cbf releveling maybe an arms warrior for blood frenzy)… but yeah I am a little dubious about the prospect since they have cherry picking changes they are making this time, leatherworking / seals etc its no longer “warts and all”.
As to retail, not sure I will last there the story is absolute trash.
I assume the boost is the same as it has been the last few years – it is a very valuable marketing tool for NEW PLAYERS, allowing NEW PLAYERS to play the new expansion on day 1, not after weeks of leveling thru an OLD, empty expansion.
It seems very unlikely it will have any features that are useful to veteran players.
BINGO!!! There is no way to level professions except through old xpacs, which is why the first generation of level boosts also boosted professions (it was janky and required the player to learn 1/75 in professions to boost them but it did boost them.
Blizzard later solved this by splitting professions on a per xpac basis thus no longer needing the prior xpac to be maxed to progress… I would also be happy with this implementation split tbc into its own profession.
screw it, just give them an epic mount, 10k gold and full T3 gear too, why stop there. why work for anything?
So I am not sure if you played back in TBC but it was the first time in wows history that they envisioned a BIG reset to reunite the progress of players. From an individual perspective, it sux losing all your progress, your lead on everyone else… you have worked hard on your lead, to build it, maintain it, you should be allowed to laud it over those that for whatever reason are a part of the “have nots”, or at least they should have to suffer through the same effort you put in right? (that was my attitude back in vanilla 2004).
Unfortunately that kind of design is very very bad for the game, it doesn’t result in more people enjoying the game, they just leave and the game enters decline. There are also gameplay mechanics which are required to be reset so that your progression is meaningful too… crit caps get reached, hit maxes out, AP/SP gets too crazy, tanks mitigate too much etc.
This brings me back to the level boost, if the entire point of TBC is to reset everybody back to relatively the same starting place (by the time they reach max level) gating players way back down at level 1 instead of level 60 defeats the point of the reset.
Don’t get it wrong, you are re-playing a game that is 15 years old. Its a luxuary cruise with a preset destination not an scouting missions charting unknown territory… this is a sight seeing tour, many players have “been there, done that” and while the rate of progress in TBC should not be diminished, access to TBC very much should be (specially because its a sight seeing tour).
That’s just ridiculous hyperbole. A single 58 with no professions and a level 30 mount isn’t everything the game. Stop being ridiculous.
I use an extreme example to more easily point out how poor the “they need to be caught up with their friends” reasoning is.
I still think you are missing the point and purpose of what TBC is or specifically what an expansion is in the context of wow… its not just more vertical content to progress through. Its a reset and alignment of the player base to start the race over. The skill of good players is in how quickly they complete the race and advance from their competition.
No. I already think the boost is a bad idea, but adding on extra things that everyone else had to work for is ridiculous.
LOL you are joking right? The race is not skill based… PVP, arena, skillbased. Spending your life and every waking hour to be first at something has nothing to do with skill… I would bet my left nut you play on a PVE server, you have to with a statement like that. lol
I think you misunderstand I don’t mean 60-70 levelling race I mean “progression” as a race… PVP is a part of that, the first to gain gladiator is a part of that race. The xpac evens out the playing field… a fresh player is not pvping with a hwl geared encumbent, everyone goes into the arena with the blue resi gear/whatever they can acquire at max level, that progression race is part of what an xpac is (pve or pvp the reset has happened).
It’s not gonna be empty for TBC though… tons of people gonna be leveling. Also, those people have plenty of time to be leveling right now. When that prepatch drops people are gonna be leveling shamans and paladins like crazy. Why can’t they level then? Why do we need a boost?
We need a boost for those that want to skip levelling through that content but still want to play TBC content… surely that is obvious?
No I understood, still not skill.
