Yeah the gear looks like someone just sorta threw darts at a wall and called it a day. There’s no aim, no focus, nothing of the sort in the gear choices, gems, enchants, etc.

I’m not saying its great, but more hps, more ac, comparable threat, and slightly more avoidance after removing Spirit Weapons.
No professions as you can easily sub the hammer.
1 Exalted, 1 Revered, 1 Honored for reputations.
PvP gear is just Honor points and marks.
still though…
Edit: thanks for the link tip fasc!
If you use the ` symbol on either side of the link, it looks like this:

Easy-peasy.
That being said, you need to provide the link up at the top from the “Get Link” or whatever button, otherwise this won’t show us anything. The URL you have is your personal URL for your gear sets which are editable. The link to show off to others gives us an uneditable setup to look at and copy if we wish.
Moderately better to be sure, but holy crap it isn’t like these stats even touch what the other Tanks can get rather trivially.

This is my current, janky-as-can-be, set. It is a bit lower on unbuffed Health but it is 13.5k Armor, and I haven’t touched Heroics, my gems/enchants are non-existent, no Badge gear, no Rep gear, no crafted gear…
Anytime!
This is some brain dead stuff here. I TaNkED It BoYS. No, you got carried by full naxx geared people and still died.
I like to call them snowflake builds.
You two should make your own thread where you can pat each other on the back about irrelevant things.

I tanked on a Shaman in 5 mans in Vanilla, and also raid trash.
I’ve healed a Shaman in Heroics in TBC.
It takes a very very specific list of gear, and very specific class structure, and even then it will be slower and more difficult. It can however get done.
You WILL need a Paladin for Salv and Kings…which most Paladins have.
You WILL need CC…Hunter and another CC.
You WILL need classes that can control their own threat, ie Mages, Rogues, Hunters, etc prior to Salv.
As a Holy Paladin, generating half the threat of other healers by default, even I had to Salv myself during pulls of more than 1 mob. That was a first for me.
CL + Explosive etc can work to a degree, but most healers, when healing that hard, are going to pull threat.
Here’s a guide posted by Largid:

That’s… oof. That’s bad.
At that point, you might be better off just dropping the shaman tank. Having the hunter pet tank, and bringing something like a moonglow druid to hybrid dps/offheal.
He’s doing Karazhan now:
Interesting… a Shaman with Kings, Mark, Fort, and a Flask only has 12.2k Health… /giggle
Not going to comment on every wipe he has on trash because it is a lot, so we’ll focus on bosses.
- Huntsman: He OT’s Attuman when he appears and that’s that, no issues.
- Moroes: He holds a single mob while the Druid gets the rest, or they run around on other people. That’s hilariously disappointing.
- Maiden: He doesn’t Tank.
- Opera: He “Tanks” Julianne who doesn’t actually care who is Tanking…
- Curator: He doesn’t Tank.
- Illhoof: He doesn’t Tank.
- Aran: He doesn’t Tank.
- Netherspite: They don’t do it.
- Chess: LOL
- Prince: They don’t do it.
Lame.
Bro people like you have have this bizarre hatred of somebody trying something off-meta for fun is equally frightening and humorous. Like how sad of a human being do you have to be to be so offended by this?
Bruh, its an olddd version of the game. Its easy. Its solved. Its not competitive.
Some people like trying different weird things. So they do it. And they make sure the people around them are on board. Nobody rolling a Shaman tank is expecting to find groups normally. Its almost assuredly a guild “hey guys I want to try this” kind of thing.
Nobody is arguing that its good. Nobody is saying “Shaman tanks can be a real contender!”. Its viable to an extent and very suboptimal. The intrigue with Shamans as tanks is the clear leftover talents and ideas from blizzards initial vision for them, which clearly points to well, tanking.
So they have what I would call “half” of a tanking toolkit built in. And it can be very engaging to push something like that to its limits. You never have to play with them. They’re not trying to convince you or anybody that they make good tanks. They’re objectively well, not good. But they have the tools to tank to an extent.
My alts gonna be a PvE shockadin. I’m freaking excited for it. It will likely, suck. I will make sure that friends and people I raid with know that I’m going to be rolling on caster gear. If they’re not okay with that, that’s completely within reason.
The fact that somebody trying something off meta bothers you so much is so incredibly sad, its genuinely hard to fathom.
Dear diary,
Today I accomplished my dream of tanking Kara worse than a hunter pet.
Claim: “Look ma, I’m Tanking!!”
Reality: Dead on the floor, Tanked no bosses.
I’m sorry that a simple refutation is all it takes to get your knickers in a twist, but no one is offended here (except maybe yourself). When people try out off-meta things, that’s great, more power to them. However, when people try out off-meta things while claiming themselves just as good as the meta things, that’s a problem. Players are at all levels, including levels of absolutely stupidity/naivety. Someone proclaiming themselves a viable Tank as X class that can’t actually Tank can give the wrong impression.
Further, and this is the important bit, if no one is allowed to push back on it like you’re attacking me for doing, then they’ll never see the other side of the issue which is that the off-meta nonsense was oversold and now they’re lvl54 wondering why they can never get groups, never succeed, and haven’t had an enjoyable experience whatsoever.
Yes, yes they are.
They have the same tools Priests and Warlocks do, that is they have abilities that do high threat on select skills and they have some semblance of EH to eat the occasional hit. That doesn’t make them a Tank. Never will.
What’s hard to fathom is why you thought this ranting screed was going to mean anything to anyone.
Nobody said it was just as good.
Nobody out there thinks Shamans make great tanks. Nobody is preaching it. This is an old version of the game. Itss solved. Its easy. Its not 2006. Information is everywhere. People did all of current raid content…without even being all max level. Its stupid easy because we’re 2021 gamers. ITs the PERFECT time to try weird stuff.
Somehow you clearly get some kind of strange feeling of power from actively discouraging this. You’re pretending to hide how sad it is by pretending your doing something “virtuous”.
Ode to our great hero, making all aware that Shamans are not actually good tanks. Its a rampant issue you know? This old version of the game that’s completely solved with any and all of the information you could possibly want / need easily accessible is just ridden with those not understanding that Shaman tanks are a meme spec.
The amount of time you saved all zero of the people playing this game that invest in their Shaman to tank at endgame, only to learn that its not actually good, have you to thank.
Na we both that’s not what your doing. Perhaps your life lacks order? Maybe you find that sense of order by hopping on to the TBC forums and demonstrating to all that Shaman tanks are in fact, bad. All zero people that think they’re good, you’re really flexing on.
I’m sure their a reason, something in your life, perhaps how your were raised, that has built this bizarre need to make sure NOBODY thinks Shaman tanking in TBC Classic are even remotely useable.
I have empathy for you. Its just so…sad. So strange. You clearly possess a reasonable level of intelligence. You’re capable enough of brewing up some excuse that appeals to peoples virtue.
And I know deep down there’s no way part of you isn’t aware that what you’re doing comes from some bizarre compulsion that is somehow helping you cope with something.
Lying about it doesn’t make it true.
Naw, you have an ax to grind.
Just finished Psych 101 this semester eh? Good for you!
Hit up Caperfin on the shaman discord, he’s your man.
Nobody did. Haha. I’d go as far to say in my entire lifetime playing WoW (original TBC) I don’t think I’ve ever once heard a single soul try and tell me that Shaman tanks have been or were ever on equal footing with “actual” tank specs. Also, I don’t see it anywhere in this thread.
I’ve heard “Shamans should have a tanking spec”, I’ve heard “Blizzard originally designed Enhancement as a tank spec” as well as “with enough effort Shamans are capable of tanking some endgame content within reason”…
I really do have empathy for you, and no hehe, I never took a psych course. But I think most of us know that somebody acting strangely aggressive towards something so innocuous has some deeply rooted reason for doing so.
Take the cliché school bully. 95% of the time, something in his or her life is making them feel bullied and abused, so they compensate by doing the same thing to somebody else.
