So why in the heck is Blizzard cutting out 1/3 of the gameplay with boosts?
Classic is about an immersive world, not a skip to the end game.
Goodbye, Azeroth…Blizzard has cut you out for $$$.

When you have to ask “why?”, the answer is always “money”.
Oh, the other answer is “to make Glinda happy.”
It’s because Blizzard is a soulless company now. They sold out to a corporate model that prioritizes leeching as much money as possible from its consumers. The sad thing is that brilliant, inspired and talented people still work for Blizzard. It’s just that those people aren’t calling the shots.
Blizzard North is rolling in its desecrated grave right now.
Now?
It is to laugh.
If you spend 1/3 of your time in TBC Classic leveling from 1-58, the game just came out, or you’re not playing at all and barely hit 70 before T5 content releases…
AKA stop lying to whine about boosts.
Why separate classic and TBC servers then?
If TBC classic is truly an expansion - realms shouldn’t exist.
Something to consider in the new game vs xpac discussion is that the story/content transition from vanilla wow -> tbc was episodic, not serial; think the Simpsons as opposed to Stranger Things. The impact of skipping an episode of the Simpsons has little to no impact on your ability to enjoy the next episode. You might not get a long running joke, but overall your ability to engage in the story of the next episode isn’t damaged.
Serial story/content like Stranger Things is different in that missing an episode makes it near impossible to understand what’s going on without the previous context. This is not the case with TBC.
This is what xpacs do…
Do you think azeroth matters in the Shadowlands world?
TBC is about outlands, not about whats going on in Westfall…
You arent paying to skip to “end game” youre paying to skip to the START of the NEW XPAC.
On top of that…
They are deliberately separating classic and TBC through realms.
You can’t use the boost for a classic-only realm (to my knowledge).
Correct. You can only do it on a TBC realm.
Yep. That’s what surprises me about the boosting criticism “it destroys classic”.
Blizzard is literally treating Classic and TBC classic as separate games at this point. And the boost doesn’t effect classic.
Amen, preach it sister.
Retail Andys think that Vanilla and Azeroth is not part of The Burning Crusade. TBC changes the whole game.
It’s World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade.
It’s NOT Outlands: The game.
It effects all servers that are currently live.
There won’t be a boost available (yet…) for Vanilla servers.
100% agree
Don’t underestimate just how many people will be playing Blood Elf and Dranei, both of the races which cannot be paid boosted to level 58.
I’d argue that most people planning to play any other race/class already have levelled or are in the process of levelling those characters to 60 already.
Because they run on different data?
Is that even a serious question?
By the way, as someone said in another thread if TBC starts at level 58, why do Draenei and Blood Elves start at level 1?
TBC doesn’t start at level 58, that’s just someone applying their modern notions of what makes an MMO game an MMO game to a much older game that still adhered to classical MMO and RPG based gameplay.
Even in WOTLK I remember having to level all the way from level 1 for any class but Deathknight. Heirloom gear and the recruit a friend stuff just made it much quicker.
