Correct me if I am wrong but I do recall that in The Burning Crusade this was a thing where the ranged weapon of a hunter was displayed on his/her back when it wasn’t being used.
So far I dont see it.

yeah i want to show my ranged wep
no fixed as yet. even when you login to select your character its supposed to display and not whatever melee weapon you are using. At the moment I only see my melee weapons. The only time i see my ranged weapon is when im shooting it after which point it magically disappears never to be seen again.
This shows you how behind the developers are in being able for things to show up correctly ingame.

Down with hunters. 
This was implemented until Cataclysm when melee weapons were removed for hunters. I remember exactly how surprised I was about it when I logged on Cata prepatch lol.
What are talking about? In The Burning crusade the Ranged weapons from hunters were displayed on their backs and in the login screen we would hold our ranged weapons in hand.

From MoP prepatch:
- The slot in which ranged, relics, and thrown items were previously equipped has been removed. All weapons should now be equipped in the weapon slot.
