TBC Arena Will Die

Once people realize:

The insane gear imbalance. Those who raid, have had a head start on earning arena points/honor and gear, and are able to afford items like Stormherald/Deep Thunder will steamroll players in entry-level PVP gear.

The high barrier to entry due to excessively low honor rates. Current honor rates are around 750 honor/hour. A full set will cost around 184K without weapons. That’s nearly 250 hours for an underwhelming set of resilience gear.

How unbalanced different classes/comps are. The meta (which will likely stay the same for the whole expansion) will be incredibly frustrating for the majority of players.

How long it will take to earn enough arena points to purchase gear. An average player will earn around 400 points a week, and it costs 8250 points for a full set without weapons.

How difficult it will be to find arena partners and queue if you don’t already have a dedicated group due to the lack of LFG or solo-queue. Arena teams being a thing makes it even more restrictive. It actively discourages playing with different people. Arena points are calculated based on your team’s rating, so you must stay in the arena team you played on for the week in order to earn points.

What do you suggest be done?

Some people enjoy arena in TBC regardless of the outcome. The sky is not falling chicken little.

Just because you can’t do well in arena without maxed gear doesn’t mean anything lol. I’m in greens and blues with 80 resilience and it took me exactly two hours tonight to go from 0 to 1500 rating in 3v3. I’m sure I’ll be closing in on 1850 by Tuesday if I play another night or two. There’s literally hundreds of teams playing arena 3 days into the season, arena isn’t going anywhere.

140 resil 4 greens, 1080 bonus healing druid, 1700 atm, wonder how high we can manage
of course you feel like your health is melting with all these deep thunder warriors and rets, but i think you are overdramatizing, chill  the longer we are in the season - the lesser gear imbalance will be

Stunherald will exist but I strongly doubt it will be everywhere. Plus only two classes use it. One is ret. Pve gear will help but won’t make or break especially later on.

Don’t farm the blue PvP set way too much work for garbage. My as well wait for your arena points to build up. Off sets are slow but possible.

We know what game balance was like going In. No surprises there.

Arena points were always slow if your low. There’s 4 seasons and 2 years of Tbc. Gonna be a long season 1 so get comfortable. You’ll get your set even if your stuck at 1300.

Too hard to find arena partners? That’s on you. Tons of people are looking for games atm. If you can’t find a dedicated team you’ll be hopping every week and peaking at 1400 anyway.

Tbc will die before it’s arena does.

Maybe have a classic toon and you will fair better

Everything you’re saying sounds good to me. I signed up for tbc classic
