Tauren Rogues: A Mistake In the Making

I was just informed that the Dragonflight expansion will be opening up some classes to all races. This is always good news to hear because more class and race combos are long overdue, but when I heard that rogue was one of those classes I knew I had to stealth walk over here to let it be known what a huge mistake that is for the franchise.

  • Lore - Unlike mages and priests which represent more broad caster archetypes, the warcraft rogue has unique lore and story that just doesn’t mesh with certain races (High Mountain Tauren/Smooth Horn Tauren). It’s like opening Hunters Death Knights Monks Demon Hunters to every race. It just doesn’t fit current lore.
  • Realism - At some point we need to maintain some realism for players suspension of disbelief. I know what you’re thinking ‘oh god he’s going to bring up the hooves’. No, anyone with eyes can see satyrs stealthing around since the RTS. The problem with tauren rogues not making sense is they have two toe fingers on each hand. They can’t properly grip a dagger like that. Their going to be back stabbing and disarming themselves every other stab.
  • Noise – Have you been to Thunderbluff? How are they suppose to stealth around when all your hearing is that bell ringing every step?
  • Hooves – okay, it doesn’t matter for stealthing, but Ravenholdt Manor has hardwood floors. They’re going to tear that place up. Lord Jorach can’t afford to be replacing the floors every time some moo cow comes around wanting to know where to level up lock picking.
  • Taurens talk too much – This isn’t Hearthstone. What is a rogue without secrets. Have you met a tauren player? They never shut up. You let a tauren be a rogue and next thing you know they’ll be telling everyone how Secret Technique works. Most rogues don’t even know how Secret Technique works, that’s how secret it is.
  • Poison Brewing – Cows can’t use herbs to brew poisons if they’re eating them and chewing cud.
  • Furries – Okay, I’ll say it because it needs to be said. Taurens opened the furry floodgates and look at where that has gotten us. We are drowning in furry degeneracy. The rogue order hall can at least be one last bastion against the flood.

I know that the current devs don’t care about maintaining the classic feel of this game, but I had to put a pa- foot down and stand up for what is right. Some class restrictions are in place for a reason and I can’t stop this change from being implemented but I can put ‘No lactose rogues’ in my group finder posts and you should too.

New lore under the Shadowlands expansion openly contradicting and countering older lore was the single largest issue with the so-called writing.

Here’s to hoping Blizzard doesn’t finally put WoW out to pasture with the next Expansion.

Wrong. Grimtotem have had rogues for a long time.

They can hold daggers and swords and shields just fine already.

I can see you don’t know anything about hooves.

After reading through this, I know it’s a joke/troll thread now, but as a PSA, this will get you into trouble.

i saw a lot of grimtotem rogues, so maybe we cows learned from our evil cousins or maybe in the lore some grimtotem become horde again

Sure, a cow holding a dagger is just nonsense. But a cow turning into a bird, bear, orca, stag, cat, or funky chicken is perfectly real.
