First let me say I’m not trolling, I’m a stickler when it comes to some sort of “reality” when it comes to aspects of the game. I don’t use mounts I don’t believe could carry the weight of my character which I know is ridiculous in a world of mayhem and magic but it’s always been a thing of mine, but I digress.
I know next to nothing about horses, could a real life one hold the weight of a full grown tauren male? I have a really cool horse mount I want to use on my hunter but it bothers me using the mount because I feel the horse would buckle under the weight of my character, what is the approximate weight of a tauren male and could a horse carry it effectively?
A draft horse can carry a tauren male comfortably.
The average quarter horse or thoroughbred? Not really.
what is a draft horse?
Budweiser horse. Basically.
The big draft horses are 2000ish pounds, roughly 16 to 17 hands, huge feet and bones.
This kind of shows you how big they are:
thank you for your help, that’s a really cool horse
Np. I love talking about horses. Shameless picture of mine:
(Bud is on the left, Jewel on the right. Father and daughter.)
So cute!
The newish horse models that share the Goldenmane design look like a draft horse so they could get a pass.
Whereas the more svelte looking unicorn models would look like their poor thin legs couldn’t hold up under the weight.
Personally, all my Tauren ride Jeweled Panthers because they fit right and in the back of my mind won’t break their backs carrying them.
Gorgeous! Appaloosas?
What beautiful creatures! I wish I grew up around them, they are truly amazing
I would assume a tauren would weigh around 300 pounds to maybe 350 due to the height and stockiness (even then that may be a stretch). That may be too heavy for the horse.
Draft horses are large indeed, and are extremely utilitarian. You would think a Clydsdale would be on par. They my fav breed of horse with Draft being next, yet the Clysdale would not support the weight as hey have weaker backs and are used for heavier hauling and such.
Hard to say the mans height in the photo without knowing how many hands the horse is, but get your point for sure.
If its one of the maw horses i wouldnt worry too much about it, they’re spirits even thought they cant fly.
Yes, thank you! Bud is a foundation Appaloosa and was guaranteed to throw black foals before he was “retired.”
Those are gorgeous!
Thank you for sharing.
I used to have a brown tobiano paint QH mare. I really loved her!
What gets me is seeing a Tauren riding the rat… OMG I totally crack up. Can hardly see the poor rat. lol
What beautiful animals. Thanks for sharing.
Think Clydesdale and bigger.
Yup. That’s why the kodo, a creature that can carry a war party with drums, is our racial mount instead of a zevra.
But, I forgot which patch finally allowed it, when every other Horde race could ride everyone else’s racial mount when they reached exalted us poor Tauren could only ride the orc’s wolf mounts. I’m probably misremembering but the Troll stable master would say your too big for the raptor mount.
The only mounts that bucked the rule if you didn’t want a wolf was Baron Rivendare’s mount and the two Brewfest rams.
Tauren are hollow. No worries.
My Hawkstrider hates me.
I decided to go with my Vicious White Bonesteed as my mount, in my head it will always be my Vicious White Draft Horse
