Taunka Allied Race Megathread

I think we have too many of those too!

Taunka deserve to get their own allied race. Part of the Horde since WotLK, I don’t understand what we don’t still get them as allied race now.

I would love to see playable Taunka and would play one immediately.

The real question is why Tauren, who clearly have a Native American-patterned culture, look like cows instead of buffalo to begin with. Taunka are what the Tauren should look like.

I wouldn’t mind but they need to update them to be more than just Tauren who got their face hammered in.

I would much rather have gotten Taunka, who are visually and culturally distinct from the confederated tauren tribes in Kalimdor. Instead, we got the High Mountain. Who are just tauren with antlers.

Antlers are not horns. Do the High Mountain shed their antlers? Growing antlers every year is kind of horrifying and gross. While a cosmetic option for newly sloughed antlers covered in gore and dangling flaps of skin may have made the race worthwhile for the novelty alone, no such option exists.

Taunka shaman with their no nonsense approach to the elements sure would be handy when fighting the primalists.

I really want to see the Taunka one day.

I think they’re one of the races (along with ogres, Forest trolls, Wildhammer, Frostborn and furbolg) that I’ve wanted since wrath…

I do want to see Taunka playable as well. Especially given that they’ve long been part of the Horde as full members, technically.

That said, I do worry about them just being slapped onto Tauren with little care as other customization races have been treated. I want to be an actual Taunka, complete with their own culture and in-game presence. Not a Tauren LARPing as one while still referring to themselves as Tauren in voices, mouse-over text, and so on. It’s something I worry about with them and other potential customization races as a result.

Hopefully, they’ll get better treatment than that if we’re lucky enough to ever see them playable. :ox:

I pretty confident if we get Taunka, it will be as allied race because we don’t still have the green skin from Forest Trolls and the grey skins from the Dragonmaw Orcs.

Their head isn’t just a “reskin” of the Tauren head so I think it won’t work as customization, at least for now. Highmountain Tauren could have been a customization for regular Tauren, for Taunka it’s more difficult. We need to reorganize the race menu for that before. For example we could get a hulky body for the regular Trolls to simulate the body of Forest Trolls.

It’s hard for me to imagine Taunka as a customization race, since some work would need to be done to them to fit as one to where you may as well do a little extra to make them a full race.

If you take the current male Taunka model, you’d have to work all the helms to make sure they fit. Otherwise, just having no helm graphics with probably one head type, likely with no customization options, would be extremely disappointing.

Female Taunka would also get the short end of the stick, likely getting one, maybe two skins at best with barely any customization options for either male or female Taunka. Not to mention the whole still referring to themselves as Tauren in their voicelines and other issues with customization races that I have not been happy with.

Thus why I hope that they would be able to be their own full race if they became playable in some fashion. I do think it’s important to keep that conversation going so they don’t just become LARPing and cosplaying Tauren. Taunka and any other race that could become customization races deserve better. :ox:

I hope the Horde will get Taunka as allied race soon. They are a part of the Horde since WotLK. So I hope they will get some Taunka npcs in Orgrimmar. I hope they could get an updated model with their own female model too.

The perfect recruitment quest could be this: We will see how the Taunka will recapture the Taunka’le Village (Taunka capital) of the Scourge (Scourge remaining troops in Taunka’le Village) with the help of Rokhan (or someone else), the Horde and their heroes.

This recruitment quest is perfect to introduce them in the Horde as playable race.

I don’t have any ideas but just wanted to comment for support.

Always thought it was weird we don’t have them yet with them formally joining the horde back in wotlk

We actually found out in Exploring Azeroth: Northrend that the Taunka have no intentions whatsoever to retake their former capitol, for thr reason it has tok many bad memories involved with it now.

We could perhaps see where they are rebuilding.

Too bad we didn’t have quests about that and we must read this book to know it.

They could build their new capital in Camp Winterhoof so we could extend this village.

They could use Camp Oneqwah, Westwind Refugee Camp and Camp Tunka’lo as secondary villages

Or

They can build their new capital in Borean Tundra. The city will be as big as Icemist Village near to the Warsong Hold.

The Horde could resident in the Warsong Hold helping the Taunka to extend their new capital and rebuilt it here. They could help the Taunka with soldiers, food, water, equipments and mounts to help them to live here.

The recruitment quest could be: help the Horde to bring these resources safely in the Warsong Hold, help the Horde to restore the Warsong Hold, help the Horde to build the new Taunka capital with the Taunka.

Of course only Horde player could do this scenario and only Taunka player could see their new capital rebuild (as starter area).

The other villages Camp Winterhoof, Camp Oneqwah, Westwind Refugee Camp and Camp Tunka’lo will be their secondary villages.

That could be an interessing development for the Horde and the Taunka. The Horde help its allies in need and the Taunka get a new capital in Borean Tundra for their new life in Northrend.

I have a head canon that a tribe of Taunka moved to Winterspring.

That would be an wonderful place for a new horde quest hub involving Taunka.

Given how important it is to both show interest in playable Horde Taunka and that they would do a lot better as their own race instead of being slapped onto Tauren, I wanted to share a guide I’ve written for a few megathreads on how to submit in-game feedback with some suggestions on how to compose it.

Once a month on only one character, I send an in-game suggestion for the races I want playable. I do one suggestion for each race and refer to their megathreads on the official US WoW forums for more information. It’s something I don’t regularly do, as I don’t want to spam the system, but it is something I try to at least do occasionally.

If you’re interested in submitting in-game feedback for any races you are interested in becoming playable, here is how to get to it in game:

Step 1: Press ESC to bring up the general menu.

Step 2: Click “Support.” It’s at the very top of the menu.

A new window in-game should load. It can take a few seconds for it to load completely. Underneath the “Search World of Warcraft Support” search bar, you should see a line of square images that refer to specific categories of support.

Step 3: Click the “Submit feedback or bug report” square. It should be on the far left when you first load the support window.

It’ll take a second to load that part.

Step 4: Click the lightbulb icon on the right that says “Submit a suggestion”

Step 5: Click in the text box on this window to begin typing a suggestion.

You’re now ready to submit an in-game suggestion!

It’s limited to 500 characters you can type, so you have to be a bit creative in the limited space. As I said before, I usually do one suggestion for each race I want playable, giving a very brief mention of the race, the faction I want it for, and why I feel they’d be great to add. I then make sure to type the name of the associated megathread, assuming they have a megathread, and mention they’re on the official US WoW forums, stating to go there for more info, such as ideas, fan support/designs, ongoing discussions, etc.

When you submit the feedback, it states you won’t get a response, but that it’ll be looked at in some way. Now, this wouldn’t be a sure-fire way to get a race playable, but it can’t hurt to do so in my opinion. After all, we have to show support somehow!

So for those interested in supporting a race you want playable, this is how to do it in-game. As I said, I usually do this once a month (on just one character) at most so as to not spam the system. However, multiple people doing it could help a lot to showing support for races we’d love to see playable.

Also make sure you’re submitting a suggestion and not a bug. I mean, yes, the character creation screen lacking playable Horde Taunka is quite the game-breaking bug (with an easy fix!), but a suggestion will likely be received better as opposed to sending that as a bug report.

As i’ve said before, there are no guarantees it will lead to our dreams coming true, but it is something I feel is helpful in showing support. And who knows? Maybe it will lead to something someday. All we can do is keep up the support and hope for the best. :ox:

Thank you for the suggestion! I have been a bit absent from this thread; but with today off I am going to begin to update it since it is a bit outdated with some recent happenings in-game!

UPDATE: I have updated the class list, recruitment idea, and some other things. I have also added a list of what Taunka characters could be highlighted in stories!

Wonderful!

I hope they add the Taunka soon. I really like them.
