Tanks that leave party due to DPS

It’s true. If a decent mage pulls aggro he’s probably fine. In fact, he can probably handle the rest of the pull without me as sad as it is to admit.

Shadow priests, etc…yeah, you guys gonna die, so don’t try to be like a mage. Unless there’s a mage there, and he likes you, and decides to save you from yourself.

When I pally tank, I give the appropriate DPS blessing, then give them salv for the rest of the run when I see they are ignoring aggro or off pulling extra packs. That puts them at a epeen dps meter disadvantage against behaving DPS who still have might/kings/wisdom.

You’ve spent this entire thread making excuses for being bad lmao. This is why I don’t pug tanks; too many scrubs with princess attitudes

I don’t mind if someone doesn’t want me to tank for them. do whatever you want, I’m not stopping you lol

Yep. On my feral I usually had a good amount of rage at the end of a pull, I wouldn’t want to shift out to recast thorns on myself, only when at the end of a pull if I was low on pooled rage. Most of the rage needed is at the start of a pull, on a good run, I’m tab targeting and not burning rage on a mob that I’m way ahead on threat.

When everyone is kiting a mob, a warrior or druid tank is receiving 0 rage from those mobs. Auto-attack for threat?

You got it backwards, the Tank kicks the DPS. Are you new?

As a baby tank (doing only normal dungeon), I’ve found that a two strike rule works well. If a DPS does something moronic once (bad positioning that aggros another group, consistently pulling aggro and splitting my packs), I give them one friendly request to “please give me a few seconds to get aggro” or “watch where you stand”. If the same guy screws us twice, I’m gone.

My last SV group had a lock that was doing AOE while standing in the pack of mobs (I didn’t even know locks had a caster-centric AOE). We used both battle rezes on him (mine and the druid healer), and on the third death (when nobody else in the group had ever been below about half health) I immediately dropped group and left.

So? they are not tanking anyway

There I fixed that for you.

Get used to saying that, because you’re the player we’re talking about. I routinely get comments about how much threat I put out by other tanks, pugs in raids, etc etc. But at the start of a pull if I get a miss/parry combo and the mob blows past me its your fault for blasting DPS out the gate.

The run can be going just fine with you blasting out the gate as well, but just understand that misses happen, as tank gear gets better, hit is harder and harder to find, and expertise almost non existant.

I mean ive not had problem finding groups ive gotten like 200 badges from heroics and ive had all my bis dungeon gear since weak 2 pretty much because im a good dps i wait on threat 95% of the time and i kill skill first then X and im constantly thinking about CC/Grounding totem over my damage but ive seriously came across so many bad tanks that dont know how to build threat and i can wait till its at 70%hp and still rip threat off them i think tanks have a unrealistic expectation for alot of people ele shamans are always going to pull threat once in a while get over it stop crying and apparently warriors have a aoe threat problem so chain lightning might aswell take that off my bar if your with a bad/average tank

It’s definitely worse to be a tank with bad dps than a dps with a bad tank. Not even debatable.

On the flip note my party stuck up for me from a druid tank throwing a fit, followed by some of the worst condescending orders barked to me. Enough was enough, as my only response was to my other group members saying I just can’t handle this abuse. The bear refused to attempt agro management on more than primary target mob. He was throwing a fit that I was so feeble as to get agro from a mob aside from main target. I message the healer, watch this as I slow scorch single target main focus facetiously.

The next few pulls the healer would take all the agro aside from main target which would be on me because tank runs all over trying to get agro one at a time.

We finished the run without the druid tank 4.5 manning it because you don’t need a tank. The tank followed like a beat dog silent as a dps. The nice thing about classic is you don’t have to always take the tanks abuse.

It’s not just dps. If it’s clear to me that this run will be painful, wipe a lot, cost me gold, etc etc, then I’m going to politely excuse myself.

It’s not personal, it’s just that we all have stuff to do. Why waste time unless it’s a guild run.

Nothing like inviting PuG hunters joining from retail with the same rotation spam on pull cleaving before mobs get to tank, ya? As a mage it means if I join in the aoe chaos they FD and all agro drops to me, or healer if I didn’t participate.

Tank runs the dungeon. He plays the tune, dps need to dance to it.

Frost mages, sure.

I was tanking normal Slabs on my druid. I would FF pull and Los. The mobs would get to me and I would Mangle skull. Then before I get another GCD. Blastwave and Dragons breath, from the two mages. Both fire.
At least one of them would die every pull over 4 mobs.

The room right before blackheart the inciter, Both mages told me I was a bad tank, and left.

We replaced with a hunter and Boomkin & no one died for the rest of the run.

Ha well played sir.

Frankly, the problem I’ve seen is more often the tanks than the dps.

First of all, if you’re a tank who is pugging… you probably suck. No offense, but it’s normally trivial for a tank to put together a guild group. The good dps players often have to pug. The good tanks/healers? They generally don’t need to pug because they’ve already got first choice of decent guild groups.

Second, tanks never get any feedback. If you suck at dps, no one hesitates to call you out. If you suck at tanking? People just hold their tongues because they’d rather complete the dungeon with a bad tank than be stuck cooling their heels for another hour to find a tank because the first rage-quit the group.
