It’s not really toxic. On the whole, it’s actually quite informative. It’s showing that an irresponsible segment of dps exists, and that in the course of defending themselves here, they are showing their true colors by the way they are interacting with everyone.
This is why group content in an online game is hard. It’s always ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME ME! Trying to keep up with what everyone typically expects nowadays is rough. Some people and groups like going a bit slower while others want to pull the whole dungeon and aoe it all down.
No one is talking about M+. Specifially OP mentioned leveling up dungeons. You wanna know what is important and what isn’t? DPS cannot do big pulls without dying in most dungeons, but in dungeons a Tank can usually solo it. My pally here solos normal modes every expansion once geared at raid level…But DPS can’t…
Tanks are the walls that keep DPS safe, when they step out from the wall, they get pwned then cry and blame the wall for not moving to protect them from the big bad damage
This right here.
DPS is meant to ensure things die in a timely fashion to avoid enrage timers.
Generally though, enrage timers are generous, and so it becomes just playing safely and not being a fool
want to know something interesting. In leveling dungeons DPS tend to be able to surive just fine. Infact a level 110 Demon hunter can easily solo most normals.
As a tank, I pull at the pace the DPS and more importantly the healer can handle. If DPS is doing their job (not pulling, not pet tanking, not standing in puddles of harm), and if the healers mana bar (healers are always put on focus) is not moving much, then I will pull larger groups. Sometimes I preface this in raid chat, or I will PST the healer.
As a tank, I have 5-20 second ques. As a healer its about 4-5 min. As a DPS, its between 7-15 min. If a DPS is pulling to hasten the pace, I ask once to please let me pull the mobs. If they fail, I leave group, get a snack and instant reque into a proper group.
I will allow some healers to pull because in all actuality, tanks don’t set the pace, the healers do. If the healer can handle a lot, I will tank a lot.
But DPS…DPS are usually trash, bad, have no concept of mob awareness.
All that being said. If I am on my hunter and the tank is having a hard time. I will send them a tell asking if I can off tank with my pet to relieve some of their pressure/healers pressure. If they give me their blessing, I will tank the instance (In vanilla I was MT for Onyxia raids on my hunter. A tri spec hunter with a bat who had screech (scaled with trueshot aura) could pull from a 5 sundered target. The entire raid knew my bat was the MT and it worked flawlessly.
Isnt the tank supposed to be the one taking aggro whether you like it or not the tank always has final say.
He can go the bathroom, go out for groceries or help a grandma cross tge street. Sure that be a terrible tank you should remove but at the end of the day you still need a tank to take aggro on that boss otherwise the DPS wipe.
Once again, I’m talking about leveling or heroic level dungeons. I’m not sure why tanks have a need to have complete control over everything in these situations when there’s no point.
For example, stuff like this:
reeks of someone that wants to be the “man” and control others.
