Tanks should be guaranteed

Nothing should be guaranteed

As someone who tanks on a Blood Death Knight and heals on a Discipline or Holy Priest, tanking is downright relaxing compared to my healing experience.

Not only does the tank get to watch the fight instead of staring at healthbars all run, but they tend to have the fewest responsibilities when dealing with mechanics beyond “don’t stand in bad stuff”.

On my pally tank, I frequently out heal the healer and out dps some of the lesser geared DPS in my M+'s. On my DH tank, I almost always out DPS one or more of the DPS, and am quite close to the healer.

That being said, everyone should have equal chance at loot, even if tanks carry

Tanks just have to know how to pull that’s all. It’s the easiest role.

And maybe wait for Healer mana…Yes, That’s the hard part. That monk is oom again.

Ok solo it and you can has all of the lewtt. Bit arrogant to say you do “most” of the work, really. Especially when you consider your dps really has the greatest effect on how quickly you can clear a (timed, mind you) dungeon, and you wouldn’t last too long without a healer for any key that would give you an upgrade.

Nope. Tanks gotta know the route. Tanks gotta pull what they can pull in a timely manner and know how/when to pull what mobs. Tanks gotta know how to kite or when to kite, keep an eye on healers mana because 9 times out of 10 the healer in pugs won’t tell you they’re oom. They just assume you’re watching them like a tank should be anyways.

Tanks do CCs, too, not just DPS. Tanks also interrupt as well and do damage. In raids it’ a different story, but in dungeons/mythic+, tanks really do a lot more work than most DPS would.

Yeah yeah nah nah nah. Then every cryhard and their next-door neighbour will roll tank and pretend they can do all the things while the real tanks suffer a healing deficit the likes that BC LFR saw. No one likes healing a DPS that pretends it can tank. The gear is the same, and most people that could tank, would tank, and that’s not a healthy situation for the healers, who work VERY hard in this here Shadowlands to keep the game alive.

ITT:

Every loot council discussion about why someone is more worthy.

Meanwhile I’m sitting here as a shaman, healing while also:

and also pumping dps when i have a spare global.

you just have to press cds on big pulls and when boss uses X mech while healer is at Y situation.

You just have to press buttons on X target at Y situation. Same thing

Cool that still doesn’t make tanks deserving of more than they already get.

Healing is endgame. Tanking is DPSing but making sure everything is targeting you. I’ve done both for 16 years. You can lose focus as tank, you can daydream a bit. The healer pays for those brain farts. Healer is 100% focus 100% of the time. It’s a given. A good healer stands our more than a good tank. A bad tank can be carried by a good healer, a good tank can’t carry a bad healer. It’s a given.

Most tanks I see recently just sprint away from the group so they are out of range, pull way too much that the rest of the group(DPS) doesn’t understand, and stress me out as a healer. And they deserve all the loot… ok…

I disagree. I think Tanks & Healers could use a gold satchel as payment for the extra responsibility though.

Like it or not, you can’t complete content that is challenging without DPS.

Tanks don’t do any work! They just sit there and get beat up while the real heroes, the DPS, takes out their bully for them.

I think with every dungeon, a tank should be forced to hand over a piece of loot to whoever the highest dps was.

Which happens to be Hunter. RIght? lol…

Everyone’s got to know the route.

And dps need to give tanks more windows to kite.

Not anywhere to the extent that dps, and even healers do.

This is subjective, as a group that often runs together often do not rely on tank competence, but instead acting in unison together, creating success.

It’s not a given, though. I will admit, it is stressful healing, as I’ve healed, tanked and DPSed and for dungeons I have more fun tanking because I’m more of a “go go go” type, but, I literally tell my healer any time I do that kind of thing that just concentrate on healing, don’t worry about doing damage as DPS’ job is to do the damage, not healers. If you’re bored, sure throw some stuff out but if it’s too much then don’t worry about it at all.

Basically same work, different role.
