So long story short, I quit tanking in SL because they leaned hard into this kite or die style of tanking, and we couldn’t survive without having heals shoved down our throat.
Toward the end of SL it was much better, enough so that I decided to pick up tanking in DF. Playing through the Beta felt good and I decided to go Brewmaster. Then they did some ham fisted adjustments and murdered Brewmaster in its sleep. So I swapped back to bear tanking.
Tanking is finally fun again. I don’t have to worry about being dead in 4 melee swings and I can chain pull again. I take a few trips to the forums to browse topics and see all these player vs tank threads. Then we get nerfed, and I still see tank hating threads.
If tanking goes back to having to slog through dungeons and be totally reliant on healers then I can only assume there will be lots of us that stop tanking…again…
So please, for the love of tanks, stop asking for nerfs.
If you had a run where the tank blew through the dungeon, chances are they were geared enough to take it on. If that’s not your style then I hope you find a match in lfd that goes your pace. I, myself don’t go full blitz mode, but I chain pull and try to keep the pace going. Not everyone has 30 minutes to go pack by pack, and lots of folks don’t want to go light speed.
Maybe some options on the lfd tool where you can choose a pace would help people find other players more their style. (Looking at you for this one Blizz)
TLDR: Don’t let a speed running tank cause nerfs for the ones of us that enjoy tanking. If you want to go slow, make a tank and go slow ![]()
I’d be interested to see on a scale of 1-10 how fast people like to actually do dungeons.
1 being a pack by pack pull with odd breaks in between and people going afk.
10 being non stop run to the finish line leaving bodies in your wake.
I am probably a 6 or 7. I like to keep moving and stop for mana if needed, but keep people cycling cds and maximize the pulls.
Stay classy GD

low skill players will always look for something they can blame their failures on. currently it’s “tanks are too strong so they go too fast”. soon it’ll be something else. it’s cyclical around here.
I always say this, i love when tanks are good. it means i’m probably also having fun.
People have been bashing tanks for the the complaining about the entire spec getting nerfed regardless of class. Some people have been celebrating it. I can’t help but wonder what it would be like if Blizzard pulled the same stunt for another spec, like knocking down all dps, no matter the type, down 10% for damage. There would be complaint “megathreds” going all over the place.
Even before M+ started, people were outgearing M0 by 50ilvls. That’s two raid tiers worth of a gap so of course people are going to fly through them.
Can’t agree more. Tanking is fun, and I want to have fun playing a game. People screaming to nerf tanks 3 weeks into an expansion are ruining it for tanks.
If only the tank is having fun while the group is getting shredded, I just don’t see why they’re playing a game with group content.
“But my dungeons were fine!” cool. Doesn’t mean others are having a great time.
So…the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.
THAT is why you can’t find tanks.
I think the problem always boils down to trivializing content. There should be a “difficulty” curve in what you’re doing. Basically starting with normal mode, heroic, m0 and then m+. If something is straight out broken then you start seeing things like early on in DF. Now you can say everything is balanced around m+ and that’s true but it also shows the gear scaling is completely off in the first place, along with the level scaling which is just bonkers(level 10-20, low 60’s in DF dungeons).
I’m pretty sure is Bolivia, not oblivion. OR are you going to go tell Mike Tyson he was wrong?
You really look at a group event like a dungeon and think being able to solo it is good? Thats just annoying.
I want to group up with folks to work together. Not just entertain the tank wanting to feel a ego boost with their solo capabilities. To me thats a giant waste of time
Sorry OP but a tank should not be able to survive pulling 4-5 trash packs at once.
And tanks should not be incentivized to keep pulling while the healer is still dead.
Then don’t queue for content you don’t have time for.
If Blizz makes tanking unenjoyable (again), I’ll probably switch back to my Shaman and just wait for the all the, “QQ!! DPS WAIT TIMES ARE TOO LONG!!! QQ!! DO SOMETHING BLIZZARD!!!” threads to start showing up (again).
This is the crux of it. If you’re pulling so much that the rest of the party cannot survive the unavoidable damage (yes, trash has unavoidable damage, stop acting like it doesn’t) and you continue to pull more then you are too strong and need to be nerfed. Dungeons are group content, not “solo with 4 corpses tagging along” content
So, nerf tanks because you keep dying in the fire?
A lot of the trash has stuff you can’t really avoid. So a mega pull is annoying when the mobs are clearly designed to be taken down bit by bit
No one is pulling 4-5 packs in M+ and not dying. Too much to interrupt for that to even be the case.
Heroic/Normal do not count. They were obsolete content the second people started getting WQ gear, and trying to adjust tanks for that content is not viable.
unavoidable
Does that word have any meaning to you?
How is it a failure when you don’t take a game seriously and just have fun with them off and on? Why should they design the game with only die hards in mind? They make many levels of content for a reason, the issues are not in M+ they are in normal and heroic. The difficulty where you will see more weekend warriors and those that don’t take the game that serious.
I don’t think it’s unreasonable to ask for something to be done to make that level of content more suitable for everyone. Now nerfs are not the way to always go either just the easy way. I would suggest adding doors and or barriers that can only be opened after you kill all the mobs before them. This would limit the pull size.
