Tanks had the easiest role in that game by far, you had tank privilege of survivability and could mess up non-lethal mechanics with very little drawbacks because tank privilege and your rotation was simple and threat was a non-factor (it used to be but recent expansions dumbed it down hard)
And healing is all about spamming 2 dps. Your spammable and your 30 second dot. So your rotation ends up being 1-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-2-1-1-1-1-1 and you just weave in oGCD’s for any actual healing.
Abilities having slightly more threat than they do now does not mean it would make threat a mindless non issue. To say the dungeons before endgame don’t matter just to make your argument seem more reasonable is pathetic. Classic wow has always been about the journey, retail has been about max level. To say something like this really reveals how much you enjoy being right over being logical
my ‘journey’ on my warrior tank was very enjoyable, i had no problems at all, with the exact same toolkit as you two doofuses.
Not sure what else to say here, especially as you both seem to admit to not using a threat plate addon which is absolutely ESSENTIAL for tanking.
I do use threat add-ons but the question is, should I have to? If the game requires me to use add-ons is that a good game?

That does make me wonder though. How many people could actually play and function in this game if they made a purist server. Any and all addons are disabled on this/these servers.
Would they be popular? Would they be ghost towns? How many people are actually reliant (possibly, dependant) on addons to function? Lord knows how many people need any sort of weakaura to think for them…

Imagine thinking crutches like threat plate add-ons made you good at the game. I’ve tanked forever and been exceptional (as the groups often tell me)
I actually look at the visual and audio queues in the game and just look which DPS are attacking what and act accordingly. I think you might be the bad one that needs to have a bunch of add-ons feeding you exactly what you need to do so you don’t have to think
He’s right though, it basically is a git good, because warrior snap threat is fine with warbringer and furious thunder, 1-2 sunder swaps. It’s not hard.
Nothing needs to be changed than it already is would take away from the mechanics of classic wow.

addons are a core part of the game and always have been. they have been and still are considered in every design decision that blizzard makes, they are officially supported via the API and the built in LUA language.
People can choose not to use them if they want, but if they want to access the full information and have it displayed to them in a customized way, they should use an addon.
Addons exist to allow people to customize the game however they want, it’s an MMO with a huge amount of personality and data available, blizz does not want to be on the hook for trying to make the perfect UI for everyone.

Oh trust me I’m not saying get rid of them and disable them forever, I’m just more curious if people have possibly become a bit too dependant on them. That if they were taken away could they still play as good as they can without?

If you choose (again, keyword here again) to not use a simple addon that gives you clear data on what is happening to the mobs around you, you are choosing to be a worse tank.
There is no argument, you are deliberately rejecting having this data available to you, it will make you react slower and make worse resource decisions, I am not surprised you are having problems.
Again, this is 100% your choice to play the game this way. Full mit spec, full mit gear, sword and shield, no threat addons, then you complain about threat?
This is an entirely self inflicted issue
Imagine crying about warrior threat, when 1) you’re not even max level for the phase, and 2) don’t have your entire tool kit for the phase. Sit.
