Thank you for proving my original point.
The new runes that allow warlocks, rogues, and shamans to tank are more than enough evidence that you dont need an actual spec to tank…
I mean feral dps and prot is the same damn tree with just a different selection or two…
When you actually read the warrior prot talents… they are garboooooo.
15% threat can be made up by the fury tree quite easily. So yeah… just play as fury at higher level, and as arms for now.
I like how everyones solution to the stress of not being able to hold aggro for your group to be just to throw on a 2h and divert that stress to the healer LOL
If people stop playing like zoomers you can run the entire dungeon fast without drinking with a 1h and shield tank that has aggro on everything.
BUT HOW WILL I PARSE DEADMINES IF I DONT ALL OUT AOE RIGHT AWAY ON 4+ MOBS THE SECOND THE TANK PULLS!?
I feel your pain and I would also love if my entire group would just patiently sit on their hands and wait 5 seconds every pack for me to establish a comfy level of threat on every mob before they pushed their buttons.
Unfortunately, this is an online game.
If you don’t enjoy holding threat I would recommend not playing a tank, this problem is only going to get worse as the levels (and therefore DPS) increase.
5 seconds would be a godsend, I’m only asking for 2
Part of being a good tank is also knowing when to put your foot down and just allow disruptive idiots to die.
If someone is consistently pulling ahead of you, or not even allowing you 1 GCD of threat, just let them tank that and move onto the next group. They will quickly get the message.
It’s not even like they die through. They just get aggro, I get rage starved from not getting hit and they oom the healer. Now we drink and wait. Did we really do it faster or are you just a selfish number chaser of a DPS? It is an online game and this selfish play style is counter to group play. It seems to be how the community is going though with things like warcraft logs and DPS meters promoting selfish Me Me Me mentality
There it is… just get good, It’s not that the game isn’t designed well, you should just not be bad.
Slightly off-topic but still relevent, I think it’s funny when other MMO’s make threat a complete non-mechanic, like FFXIV for example all tanks have a stance (a buff you click once and never worry about ever again) that literally makes it so you hold aggro forever, and you will not lose it.
And people in that game still have “tanxiety” like, aoe they literally only have 2 buttons to press, and for single target it’s basically 1-2-3. Aoe is 1-2-1-2-1-2 and that’s it actually braindead to tank in that game and people are scared to do it, it’s hilarious.
Meanwhile, here you can’t really be a tank, you have to be a DPS-adjacent (basically just a dps with a little added responsibility) and it’s because you’re a dps with more responsibility that you’re usually the first to get chewed out if something goes wrong. Though, sometimes the blame goes to the healer, but from what I’ve seen it’s usually the tank. As shown by some people in this very thread earlier, “you suck at this game” “you’re doing something wrong” and I guess to a certain degree maybe that 2nd statement isn’t entirely incorrect, but if the correct way to tank is to play like a DPS that’s definetly a leap in logic for most people.
How about we just make Sunder Armor not cost rage. Done!!!
It’s an MMO that involves teamwork, planning and communication. If you expect to just throw whatever you want at any situation and expect it to work out every time, without adaptation, you are setting yourself up for failure.
**I ask you, for the 3rd time now. **
Are you using any kind of tanking threat plates / addons / UI / weakauras?
I use lot of add-ons but when a Warlock opens up with a Chaos Bolt, which they never had in vanilla how are you going to hold threat on that target and establish threat on the other 2-4 targets at the same time? Blizzard created this problem, they should be required to fix it.
Wtf is an addon gonna do to help initial threat on the pull (which is the main issue)
You are just arguing to argue at this point instead of agreeing at all with the initial topic, that tanks are having threat issues at the moment, especially with all the new dps abilities
He doesn’t know, he’s just trying to sound like he is smart but it is proving he is not.
The addons I’m referring to, specifically threat plates, will help you understand which mobs are about to be pulled off you, allowing you to focus your efforts on them or even make a decision to not do anything about it.
Tanking requires being very aware of the current threat points on every mob around you so you can make intelligent decisions and use your resources effectively.
Of course I am arguing the initial topic, because it’s just not true. Tanks have all receieved new and very strong abilities just like DPS have, and I play 2 tanks, a warrior and a bear, without issue. Again, I am only considering max level content as nothing else matters in terms of balancing due to so many external variables (level dif? gear dif? trained abilities? wep skill? etc etc).
As said multiple times, all the best players in the world are using multiple warriors including a warrior tank, you can sit here and have a cry all you want but it’s just simply untrue and is 100% down to how you are CHOOSING to play your character.
If you CHOOSE to play as a sword and shield maximum mitigation alpha male roleplayer then go ahead, its your season of discovery, but you must accept that by doing this your threat output will be lower than if you went with a higher damage build. The same higher damage build that can absolutely effectively tank damage from all boss content right now, the same one you are CHOOSING to ignore. It’s your choice. 100% on you.
TBH I like FFXIV, I mained a Gunbreaker Tank because I liked the playstyle. I like tanking and don’t mind working to maintain threat, but when maintaining threat isn’t possible because of changes the Devs made then that angers me.
Playing a tank where threat isn’t a meaningful mechanic sounds boring as hell.
I know how to play the game. I’ve played this game for almost 20 years. Please stop assuming you know more about this game than I do. Please stick to the topic.
If you had played the game for 20 years with your eyes open you would know that warriors are weak at low levels, yet here you are at literally level 17 complaining about AOE threat in your DM group.
It’s only because of the runes for other classes. Please try and keep up with the conversation.
