You have clearly not tanked on a warrior because t-clap hold about as much threat as you do.
You have the correct runes equipped right???
Furious Thunder is equipped right???
This is exactly why people go arms spec, for tactical mastery (charge → def stance, preserves rage) and for deep wounds.
Rend + deep wounds + blood frezy rune = heaps of free rage. At low levels, rend is really useful, after a few ticks it’s basically fully refunded its cost and will stack more.
bind skull mark to a hotkey, i have all my markers on my F keys.
mark skull target for priority kill
Charge → dstance → tclap → auto attack kill target while rending off targets. When kill target is under 50% hp, switch to auto other targets. Taunt skull if it gets ripped off you, but it should be dead in a few seconds.
by now, the other targets have had at least 2 tclaps, a rend and a few autos each. You can now just refresh rend and walk away from them to pull the next pack. You will have 20-30+ rage and even more coming from the rend ticks.
That’s exactly why people tank in a non-tank spec. Hey, thanks for proving my point. Thank you for proving that Prot Warriors are not good.
Warriors are good.
If you choose to pick the worst talent combination possible just because it has the word ‘protection’ infront of it, thats down to your critical thinking skills
He’s probably one of those people who will spend every talent point in a single tree and none in the other 2 trees…
The WHOLE point of this thread is that PROT is not good. You agreed and helped prove my point but here you are still trying to argue.
just wait until this guy hears about what spec feral druids go…
one of my first replies was that prot spec is bad, i agreed with that point instantly.
you are here aruging more than just prot spec, you are here saying the whole class is bad, the role is unviable, impossible to hold threat no matter what you do etc etc.
Baseless argument, try again.
Yet you are still here. I have not made any point other than PROT needs to be fixed and you are still here. Why???
You have only made illegitimate points though, so does they really count?
So you think PROT is perfectly fine as it is, at or below 25?
Do you honestly want blizzard to completely re-work the entire protection talent tree?
Well this thread got a little out of hand. Anyway, I’d like to try and address the OP with a copy paste of a post I made in another Warrior tanking thread. This should help OP:
Sometimes you just can’t if your dps are super geared, and you aren’t. But here goes:
- Talents. Go arms, not protection. Prot just doesn’t offer enough yet for threat generation. I go with 5 parry, 2 tactical mastery, 3 improved rend, 1 deep wounds. Then in fury, 5 cruelty. Cruelty makes deep wounds proc more, more on that below.
- Runes. Blood Frenzy, Furious Thunder, Devastate. Blood Frenzy combos with deep wounds to generate more rage every time it procs. It also causes rend to generate rage, basically refunding its cost over 9 seconds. You can change out devastate for the rage increasing runes if you prefer, but I like devastate for the damage, resulting in faster clears, and also helps hold threat with super geared dps.
- Technique. First off, Thunderclap is not for generating threat, the threat it generates is very low, even with the rune. You should never use thunderclap unless you already have threat on everything. Thunderclap is for damage mitigation from the reduced attack speed debuff.
Start off in Battle Stance. Charge in, immediately swap to defensive stance, and Demoralizing Shout, or rend if you need a few seconds to round up the mobs and stack them up. After Demoralizing Shout, use Battle Shout. Move while shouting as leeway will increase the AoE. Shouts generate a decent amount of threat when used in defensive stance, and Battle Shout generates more threat for each party member that gets buffed by it.
From here, it’s tab target and Revenge/Sunder on each mob until you have a few stacks of sunder on each mob. Always use Revenge before Sunder, it’s your highest threat per rage ability. If a mob peels off of you to go after a dps, taunt it first and then Revenge/Sunder. Taunt sets your threat to the highest threat in the threat table, so you need to generate threat after taunting in order to keep the mob on you.
These are the basics of generating threat. I’d be happy to elaborate further if you have questions.
It’s not even the worst tank and tanking is easy on the worst tanks in SoD compared to classic.
No, make sunder spammable. Done.
Also Deep Prot probably won’t be good until Phase 3 with 41 points to spend.
Prot doesn’t need to be fixed.
Classic isn’t based around specs (individual talent trees), its Role+Class.
Tank Warrior is amazing right now. Tank Warrior however doesn’t go deep prot at this level bracket because you need 31 talent points to get Shield Slam.
What are you smoking? Sunder is already spammable, you just don’t know how to generate or manage your rage.
You destroyed your entire argument in the first 3 words of point 1.
