Character Names: Bootleglenny, Trapjawjim
Both of these characters are not receiving credit for doing the required tasks for completing the “Tales of the Exile” Achievement which is one of several achievements needed for “Unlocking the Secrets” in order to get flying in Zereth Mortis.
On Bootleglenny, I have done ALL OTHER achievements in order to unlock flying. Tales of the Exile is the last, bugged. achievement that will not complete. I have ALL ITEM required to complete this achievement in my bag and the achievement shows ZERO progress towards completion.
On Trapjawjim, I tried to do the achievements on this character since Bootleg is bugged. Only to find out that this character is ALSO bugged. I picked up one of the items required and just like Bootleg, it is not acknowledging that I have the item.
The items in question are: Firim in Exile: Part 1 through 7.
Things I have attempted to do already:
- Relog
- Restart
- Verify all game files
- Disabled all Addons
- Deleted My WTF and config folders and logged it with freshly created ones.
- Tried getting the achievement on another character (also bugged)
This appears to be an account issue.
I opened a support ticket in game, had to REOPEN it after it was automatically closed after 12 hours, only to wait 2 more days to have a support person tell me to submit a bug ticket here instead. This is kind of unacceptable. A bug is preventing my account from unlocking a pretty major part of the game, despite having put hours and days into trying to unlock it.
You can check Bootleglenny and the character achievement progress for unlocking Flying in Zereth Mortis. You can check the characters inventory and see how all required items are in the bags. After almost 20 years, WoW SHOULD have a way for the Support team to simply to flag an achievement as completed for the account.

Actually, it would have been told to post in the appropriate Bug Report forum.
Unfortunately this forum is one for players to assist other players. As such, there are no GMs or Devs here. Only Devs can fix bugs and dictate what GMs can do if there is some kind of fix that can be applied - which is very, very rare.
I would urge you to hit the pencil graphic on your original post so you can move it over to the Bug Reports forum so the proper staff can see that this is an issue. By posting here, you’re really not accomplishing anything of the sort. Due to it’s format, no data or feedback is collected from this forum. But Bug Reports does have the CMs who gather the intel for the Devs to work on things.
I did pop over to WoWHead to see if this has been an issue for anyone else and if maybe someone there had a fix, but this seems to be something broken with the current patch.

I’m sorry it’s not a better response for you here. I do wish you all the best and hopefully they’ll get some kind of fix figured out.

From what I can see, Bootleglenny, you have Part 7, but you don’t appear to have credit for Part 7. We did have a bug last year that preventing some characters from getting credit when picking up some parts. That was addressed in 2022, but it sounds like if it isn’t the same bug popping up again, it’s something similar.
I’d definitely submit a bug report if you haven’t yet, so our QA team can take a look. Otherwise, your reopened ticket should be addressed soon and they should be able to help.

Ive gone ahead and posted this issue in the actual Bug report forum now but figured id give an update here in case it helped anyone else looking.
A GM removed part 7 from my bags, and reset the drop so that I could pick it up again.
I successfully looted part 7, and had the achievement log show that part 7 was loot (showed up green, where all other parts were still grey).
HOWEVER
Upon logging out, and back in again later, once again the achievement progress showed ALL 7 parts as being grey as if I had never picked up any of them. (again, despite all 7 being in my bags).
I think the last step is to have a GM remove ALL 7 parts from my bags, reset ALL 7 drops, so that I can pick all 7 up in the same play session in hopes that it works.
Just a personal frustration but… I really find it hard to believe that after nearly 20 years of WoW being out, that admins of some sort dont have the ability to adjust achievements or other global flags (like enabling/disabling flying) for accounts. I can be the first person to have an issue with something like this happening over the course of this many years.
Id reopen ur ticket sounds like a GM broke something and this may require devine intervention aka dev.
