Take to the Skies with Skyriding

Missing the point entirely. It’s either deliberate, or I’m talking with a chatbot.

Honestly, I disagree here. For ten levels, someone is mildly inconvenienced if they don’t like dynamic flight. If you had to wait for another pathfinder, I would agree with you. Completing an eight hour campaign is not a big deal though, in the slightest.

All looks great to me.
Though if lesser abled players are having to wait too long for old flight, that just seems sadistic like DF.

For you, as Liolang has just said, and as I have said above. It’s not easy for everyone, and it wasn’t a skill based requirement before. It makes no sense to artificially limit people like this, and it has been terrible since pathfinder was enforced so long ago.

Yeah, i still use old school flying most of the time, i use DR when i want to get from A to B really fast, that’s about it. I know that i am in the minority though.

The thing that bugs me the most is giving DR straight away, while gating old school flying for months and months, if it’s super slow and the least preferred mode of transportation, why be so scared of letting us have it at the same time as DR?

can they get it done that soon?
Still find it pointless, but if they can get old flight in a play session or two from the start at least thats progress

Not at all, i think you’re grasping at straws looking for a complaint. It isnt warranted. its like if someone asked you “hey guys, do yall want to fly faster and complete stuff faster or slower” probably 90% are going to say faster. So they give you the option from the very start, and you’re upset about it. If you don’t want to go fast through stuff, walk on your legs, or use a ground mount. The options are there, if you don’t use them and still complain, then that is a YOU issue entirely.

Assuming we’re talking about the leveling campaign, it should be eight to ten hours. That’s been the standard.

I was never able to post this on the alpha forums despite being granted access to TWW alpha at one point, so guess there’s no better time nor place than to share here:

Thoughts on Skyriding (Dragonriding) and Steady Flight options:

On live, can have both available through using a regular mount for traditional flight and a dragonriding mount for dragonriding. Don’t have to switch between the two, which is great when either flying a short distance (node gathering) or long distance (moving to new zone).

On alpha, it’s either/or and it’s not fun. Inferior to retail version.

Side note: Have advanced skyriding effects (motion blur?) disabled by default. Made mistake of not checking options panel first and immediately paid the price for that. Could make mention/warning to let newcomers know about the options?

Doesn’t this mean Drathyr won’t be able to soar like they can now in DF until they reach max level and get all these stupid runes?

you living in a cave?
It IS a ‘them’ issue, son…such as

  • motor skill issues
  • motion sickness issues
  • vision issues

we’ve covered this 1000 times…it IS ‘them’…and its not their fault in MoST cases.

Imma block you now just for irritating me

lol okay, good luck to you

It would be different if we could fly steady flight from the start, and lock the newly buffed flight speed for it behind the new “pathfinder”. There is NO reason to do this. They went out of their way to limit something that wasn’t before. You seem like an argumentative person who likes devils advocate positions to inspire arguments and discord.

I think I’ll follow Liolangs lead here, obviously a troll.

The WoW community is not a monolith. Different people like different things.

Not to mention, locking regular flight while not restricting dynamic flight runs counter to the whole “play your way” new philosophy they kept saying at Blizzcon.

As much as I detest lesser abled players having to wait…thats certainly better than waiting the majority of a year for it.
hopefully Ion gives up this emotional war on old flight sooner than later.

Unless I’m reading it wrong it sounds like not ALL flying mounts will be eligible for Skyriding at least not right off the bat. So can’t you still have a couple favorite static flight mounts in your hot bars after you complete the unlock requirement? :dracthyr_shrug:

The few that are steady flight by default will most likely be grounded until you unlock steady flight, will test it in the beta when servers are up and let you know!

A five second cast time isn’t an eternity, but it’s long enough to notice.

I wish you’d just earmark whatever mounts that won’t be Dragonriding compatible to remain as BC flying mounts. I like to switch to non-dragonriding mounts for short distances, rapid succession on quests, herbs/ore and during Superblooms. It’s a quality of life we’re losing when Dragonflight ends.

I’ll be there to test it, too! :dracthyr_heart:

I agree locking it is unnecessary, and i do not understand the point behind it. My argument is that atleast we got the faster option up front besides no flying at all. So for some reason blizzard gave compromise but not fully. I dont know why they always do that but I think people need to chill out on whining. Beta servers are not even up yet and everyone is whining. So glad we got the faster option first and not the boring old slow one.
