Take to the Skies with Skyriding

Can someone show me what is gamebreaking about using normal flying in TWW then Dragon Flying…

Can you show me where anyone said it was gamebreaking? Or why you’re replying to me about an entirely different subject?

I hope that everyone does realize with the current hints of the requirements, TBC flying is unlocked in just about 6 hours worth of game playing time on one toon.

Not good enough. Steadyflight from the start or we will not be purchasing this expansion.

From what I understand from interviews, and I have to be clear here i’m not arguing for this or saying it is right, but from what I’ve seen ion mentioning in interviews the issue with steady flying is that you can just see where you need to go and either autorun afk or just fly up, and go straight to the point, where with dragonflying you still have to maneuver around the terrain and explore, so it is in general a less passive experience.

Do I agree? Not sure, i really just preffer skyriding any day of the week, but I think is also dishonest to complain about the requirements for regular flight when this has been the earliest you could unlock flight since WOD (and i heard before that you needed max level to unlock flight on previous expansions, so basically the same here).

I have no issue with how flying was handled in MoP or even WoD …cause everyone was grounded then…nobody was flying at the start of MoP or WoD…we all had to work for it…and spend time on the ground…the issue with Dragon Flying it effects others physically and painfully too.

Their idea is they want us disabled or issues with dragon flying to rush to max level…then do a pathfinder again like they threw at us in Dragon Isles after we waited a painful year to get normal flying then they locked it behind a pathfinder again…we also have to complete a campaign…no idea how long the campaign is now…some are a week long…some have been months long…

It seems to be a 6 hours total for the campaign, they also have disabled assists for any quest where dragon riding is sort of mandatory.

It’s no longer a big deal now that both are included. They pretty much gutted the massively long requirements.

And completely non-sequitur, but some of the mounts do NOT look good with the skyriding at all

Dragon Flying is amazing and I love every second of it. I an not wait to use my Tangled Dreamweaver as a dragonriding mount. AND WOOT! for the amalgam of Rage getting it!

But still have to be max level…which forces those with issue dragon flying to take longer to level up if they can’t use normal flying while others not max level get to fly using dragon flying…again its discrimination against the disabled and or elderly…they are making use jump though hoops to be able to use a flying style we can handle.

Which is fine, but if it isn’t a big deal then I see no reason why they continue to make BC flying require jumping through hoops rather than just unlocking it from the get go like dragonriding and giving people the choice.

The only thing continuing to lock it behind pathfinder does is negatively impact people who physically can’t use dragonriding. It’s overly punishing for no discernable reason.

Its simple they want to discourage and discriminate against the Disabled and Elderly…many are whom their longest paying customers around too.

As I said before, they don’t need to give us a reason. They decided they aren’t doing it but are giving both modes of flight. The rest is just hyperbole as to their choice.

you can max out your gas tank flying straight up, aim down slightly while aimed at your destination, watch netflix on your other screen.

they added extra steps, but the end is the same - we’re not paying much attention in getting where we need to be. i only “interact” with my braindead dragon when trying to be more precise. and now that i can also static fly on dragon isles, i just flat out don’t use 'em unless it’s a requirement (the one dungeon where static flying works but is def def not ideal, and the one raid boss).

making the zones huge and largely empty so we feel better about the speed boost doesn’t make me love “sky riding” any more.

that’s only to get places quickly…I imagine you can normal fly still too if the dragon riding system isn’t to your liking. Who knows they might make normal flight faster to compensate the gap in speed

BlizZard always looks for ways to fumble right before heading into the endzone.

Normal flight is an unlock in tww

My popcorn is ready. This will be a big fat epic fail on BlizZard’s part. Good post by the way. +1

But there is enough who dislike the new flying system which is why TBC normal flying is gated because it is very popular and still used as a retention mechanic.

Like I said before no matter how many poison pills BlizZard attaches to TBC normal flying they are struggling to prop up DR aka dynamic flying aka skydriding aka whatever they need to rename it to market it, because support for it is dropping like a rock.

The holy flying wars will be epic and talked about for the ages. Next few months will be spicy.

Not only that but they are rushing out the expansion and they will probably try to keep it on the downlow as to what truly entails “completing the campaign” actually means. If it is like in legion where the quest chains were over several weeks or over a month you might even seen TBC normal flying as soon as people think. But time will tell on that too!!!

I hope my cats still fly in the same way they have always flown if its going to be like dragon riding and only that, it is made very difficult for us with hand disabilities, i am a one handed player, old and pretty slow but i still enjoy the game, if it was only dragon flying i would not

It’s a toggle earned after xpac campaign completion. So you’ll only be without old flying for a day or two max.

So you are not impacted.
