Sylvannas negativity

That’s beautiful! I will not forget. I said it now I’ve said it out loud :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

I wouldn’t tbh.

Just have a look at her behaviour following that and it is clear that it was an empty apology.

Honestly man just let it go.
All you are doing is let her troll you and live rent free in your head.

She is toxic and admitted to trolling on the community lounge chat to keep the forum interesting.

It ain’t worth it.

It is honestly sad and pathetic that people have to resort to doing this.

At least she was the one who blocked me though. I thought the point of a troll was to get you to block them?

People say dumb things when they perceive a threat, even when it’s just words on a screen. I’m not getting involved in your fight with her on either side. I’m willing to accept the apology made to me, that’s it.

Hey, wasn’t this thread about Sylvanas? We know the cause of much of her bad characterization now.

To have an actual change in behaviour is when an apology feels real. If they go back to their old behaviour (like Ren did) then it is clear they were just giving an empty apology.

I mean I pointed out that she was wrong to assume something was sexist and provided the same scenario where the viewpoint of the characters involved were the same and she refused to admit she was wrong, nor did she apologize to me when I asked for one. Given her response to you. Also because she later said that I was not a sexist etc then instantly went back to claiming I was for no real reason.

Then it all went to hell because Micah and Ren wanted to troll by saying all those posters were liars and were secretly sexists.

This whole thread could have ended in the first 40 posts and posters immediately pointed out their dislike for her in how she was being presented by the writers despite her actions.

Now we finally seem to have an explanation for the madness but that doesn’t change where Sylvanas finds herself now as a character, unfortunately.

Two be fair, at least three crimes against female characters under Sylvanas happened before Cataclysm, for which I still hate Sylvanas for.

I’m gonna be honest, the fight doesn’t involve me so I’m not paying attention to it. I’m not really looking at what either of you are saying and I don’t know what started it.

I know what started hostilities between her and me, and I know people say dumb things on the internet sometimes. I’m willing to forgive dumb things, and she made the apology to me. If Ren calls me an r-word-ist for making a strongly worded post about Sylvanas again then I’ll consider that a breach of the apology that she made to me.

Are you adding Wrathgate to those three?
If I remember there was no lore supporting that until Alex frigging Afrisiabi revealed that nugget of wisdom to us in an interview.

Considering we know his intentions now it totally makes sense why he would make such a baseless revelation.

It happened to me and it will happen to you. Which is why I said her apology feels hallow and empty.

tbf Sylvanas did commission the plague / blight to be made. And allowed her scientists to experiment on living creatures, including captive humans (even simple farmers from Hillsbrad) to see if it was working. While she may not have been involved directly with the Wrathgate, she is still partially responsible for what happened.

Which is why Varian declared war on the horde. Since he found out the horrors that were happening in the undercity under her watch. Also one of the reasons why Garrosh would place the Kor’kron in the Undercity and outlaw the use of the Blight. Although that last one means nothing since Sylvanas received no consequences for using it while attacking Gilneas. The beginning of a growing trend when it comes to her.

He’s talking about Theresa, Gerard’s experiment, formerly mindslave, (I’m not even sure if anything horrible happened to her anymore. The dialogue is weird.) Thersa Windsong, and the child Kreever tested the Blight on in the Arthas novel.

Edit: woman

No. All three crimes took place before the factions even went to Northrend.

I am particularly unnerved by any crimes against children.

Kids are where I draw the line with most characters.
Kids and animals with anyone in RL since they are the only two groups that are legit defenseless against anything and innocent.

The only exception to the rule for characters is if those kids dying definitely and unquestionably helped many more kids survive. Idk… like that trolley psychology example.
This for those that don’t know what I am talking about:

I think one thing that is often overlooked is that I think this is Blizzard’s really clumsy way of talking about determinism, neurological and physical. It’s an interesting subject that Blizzard just really doesn’t do justice to.

Can Sylvanas make up for the things she’s done? Different people will have different answers on that. What makes me mad about Blizzard “redemption” is that they think the forgiveness should be instant, that her feeling bad about it automatically absolves it. I don’t believe in free will, so I fundamentally believe people will do whatever they were meant to do. However my experience as a human tells me that wrongs need to be atoned for with a right.

So, what would feel satisfying? To see Sylvanas suffer for what she did. But that’s retributive, not justice. If Blizzard actually committed to a storyline where Sylvanas works to rebuild what she tooks from the Night elves, the Worgen, and from the Horde, regardless of whether or not anyone forgives her or thanks her, then I think that is acceptable redemption. Not this “My soul was split so it’s not my fault” deal.

Can you source where she tested the Blight on a child? Faranell tested the Blight on an presumably innocent human woman and a Forsaken male criminal. Was there any other times?

Pg 243-247 is what I’m refering to. Can you confirm if there is something different I’m missing.

Yes exactly.
They did the same thing with Saurfang…

I know people think apologizing is beta and submissive but if there was a questline where Sylvanas works to rebuild Gilneas and Darkshore, and works to mend wounds with the Horde namely the Tauren, then I would forgive her. I’ve never liked her character, and that would make me respect the character a whole lot more and maybe even like her despite this horrible contrivance in the Shadowlands.
