Pretty sure with the power of a god Tyranda could tear her head off. Sylvanas’ voice was croaked by the pressure but we dont actually know from any implication that she was “gasping for any air”.
I mean when you have someone you hate pinned down…you aint gonna grab them by the arms or the ehem chest…you go for the throat…undead irrelivent.
I feel people are hung up on and overthinking this for no reason

I’ve always just assumed that some undead have some minimum of biological function that has to be maintained. And maybe Sylvie is just more “whole” than a shambling skeleton so she still needs to breathe?
the devs keep forgetting undead are DEAD. they also keep flipping between what type of undead the undead of wow are.
are they rotting corpse like in day z or any of those types of moves or are they resurrected people that were dead, but arnt dead anymore. like wiz from konosuba (they can fell, are warm, blush, eat, ect)
I had the same thought, but I do vividly remember them explaining that Undead in the same vein as Arthas, Sylvanas, and DK’s still having some “living” functionalities. For example, they can still grow hair and breath/asphyxiate.
all arguements aside imagine if tyrande had won that fight and removed sylvanas’ head, and it just kept living! tyrande walking around with banshee b!tches head on her belt still talking like mimir and kratos from god of war is a funny thought. XD
i wish she had won so sylvanas’ still living head could be mounted near the ruins of teldrassil.

My instinct if I were to have to kill an undead would be to burn them to ashes, trap them in something and apply the fire till nothing is left to get up and walk out, maybe even cut them up into pieces and then burn the pieces up to ash, she should have brought a cleaver and started hacking pieces off!
It is obvious that what ever Tryande was doing was working because there was clear distress on the face of Sylvanas before Tyrande was “powered down”. So choking or trying to just crush her neck doesn’t really matter, you are right it was working.
I look at Tyrande choking her as something she did out of pure rage. Logic flies out the window when you’re that mad. Do you think Tyrande was thinking about Undead racials when she tooted after her and brought her back to the ground? I sure don’t.
I’ve thought about it. And Tyrande choking Sylvanas as she moves in for the kill does make sense.
Remember. Sylvanas is a Banshee.
When Sylvanas screams it emits an anti-magic field. The Banshee’s wail? Remember that’s a thing with Sylvanas.
Preventing Sylvanas from being able to scream or shout while you deliver the coups-de-grace does actually make sense. She’s not trying to choke Sylvanas to death, just disable one of Sylvanas’ abilities.
Watching the video for about the eightieth time, I’m wondering why Tyrande had no other weapons on her but the glaives. Even a simple dagger would have worked as she pinned Sylvanas by the neck and just pincushioned her in the head.

probably just a minor thing on the cinematics team, no big deal tbh. They have to be careful with this stuff though, because the lore players are hardcore and will notice little “mistakes” hehe
I mean if we want go with this logic we can say sylvanas can have children and if she can have children there are hope for us heroes in the horde after all. But only if you want to go down this path.
