Sylvanas killed Saurfang AFTER the soul drought

Does that mean his soul went to the Maw?

I was thinking about it, and it’s kinda sad that he got denied his warrior afterlife.

Glory to Odin!

Well, it’s either that or it’s completely destroyed.

Blizz said the Shadowlands broke during Legion. So yeah Saurfang went straight to the Maw.

In Ardenwald we learn the last spirit to arrive is close to us. So without spoiling too much, some people have theorized the machine of death broke during the middle of Legion.

So Varian wont be in the maw, but Saurfang will be.

we’re talking about Varok here

the Cleave monster
the God himself

Shadowlands Spoilers

You can rescue souls from the Maw. We rescue Mograine Senior from the Maw during the Maldraxxus quest-chain. We’ll almost certainly rescue Saurfang Senior at some point.

I think it’s also interesting The Arbiter is a very machine like person. She looks like something you’d find in Ulduar.

And when you see her, shes leaning over as if shes shut down or broken. And since shes the sorting hat of the Shadowlands that “Machine” of death is literally broken.

F’real though, one of the few in-game deaths that hit me hard. Saurfang has been there nearly every step if the way, and had major interactions with both factions.

I sincerely hope one of our first tasks is to rescue his soul from the Maw so he can find peace and hopefully reunite with Dranosh.

1000% Guaranteed we will see him in the maw raid as some special NPC for an achievement.

I also am willing to bet we will see some cry time for princess anduin when he gets to reunite with his daddy in the afterlife. Miss no opportunities to make princess anduin look like a goody two shoes after all.

Maybe we’ll rescue him and he’ll kill Sylvanas so she technically won’t be Garrosh 2.0

Yep. It’ll be there until we put a stop to the Jailer.

I’m going to bet on this: The ending cinematic of Shadowlands will focus in on various characters and their little celebratory moments. Saurfang will be one of them and it’ll have him appear in Bastion (or whatever afterlife he’d go to) and his son will come running up to him and finally reunite the two.

Saurfang should be in the maw either way. He participated in like three separate genocides.

No, feeling bad about it afterwards doesn’t make it okay. Especially when you somehow keep doing it.

The problem is “all souls go to the maw” is questionable as being accurate. We saw Varian, in a good place. Definitely not the Maw.

And there have been implications of others who didn’t go to a bad place. So the “everyone goes to the maw” falls apart fast. And since they’re going with a wibble wobble time variation, it makes even less sense.

It broke some time during Legion. Y’sera was one of the last souls to go there before the Arbiter shut down, which was after he died.

The wibble wobble is what makes things a big mess. I mean, time dilation is fine. But this whole “time is chaotic!” is going to create severe issues in WHEN something happened.

Especially when they try and create a timeline where Azeroth & Shadowlands mesh.

He probably did. Just saying the wibble wobble is what makes it a mess and creates potential inconsistencies.
