Sylvanas fans: Would you approve of her methods IRL?

Well you have fun in your version of the Story Forums, I guess. I don’t know what more I can say beyond that.

You and me both, Vozul. I liked the Warcraft movie as a whole, but the orcs were absolutely the best part of it. Nothing could stop me going full orcaboo if those guys showed up on Earth.

The same background that made me into a proud bleeding heart who owns over a hundred stuffed animals and cries at the news also made me think Garrosh was a compelling hunk of a man who I was stoked to fight with and against. You and I and everyone here can see and draw the line between fiction and reality, and I think it’s maybe a little mean to insinuate otherwise. We’re all friends! We share excitement, knowledge, and silly jokes. No one’s a psycho, just eager to discuss a fun story : )

This, I can agree with though. Ninety percent of Sylvanas’s literally rotten fanbase smell worse than a Hozen birthday party. You think I wear these flowers for aesthetics? :stuck_out_tongue:

Again, could have done without the passive aggression but hey, I am clearly delusional since I disagree with you.

You know what they say about throwing stones in glass houses…

I can understand people supporting the horde in it’s previous wars even garrosh but supporting sylvanas in fiction and rl is like being the most sick person it’s like not only do you go on a paranoid war for no reason even garrosh had reasons. You also torture civilians children and women included in flames you kill your own side in one of the worst ways possible with the plauge and she is willing to sacrifice her own cities just for a chance to kill the enemy…if she existed in rl her own underlings would have put a couple of bullets in the back of her head by now

So I am not allowed to criticise the argument?

But it’s okay for them to allude to something being off with my perception?

Got it. :+1:

I think he was more pointing out a hypocrisy because you were yourself being passive aggressive, not telling you you can’t criticize. What part of his post did you perceive as telling you that you weren’t allowed to criticize an argument?

yes of course

Oh, I don’t think I was passive at all. I was quite abrasive in what I think about the arguments that are pro-Sylvanas. I even went as far as to saying that another poster in this thread summed up my stance on the storyline.

I get it though, this is more fun than actually treading tired ground of the WoW story.

Some feedback for you and your sycophants - you could have just said, “I disagree” instead of

Well you have fun in your version of the Story Forums, I guess

which is something I am going to do now since I am over this. I disagree with your position. Good day.

Edit: Removed some unneeded snark.

I’ll take that under advisement, cheers.

This is kind of what I’m getting at. Even in this thread I’m seeing some, “Of course I don’t agree with Sylvanas’ morals but those victims had it coming.”

I still can’t see where the line is.

Nope I still care nothing for your pixel rp family and friends who were killed by Sylvanas or the Forsaken who were killed in the most gruesome of methods, however I do have compassion for real people in the real world.

The line is fairly simple. We are in real life, this is a video game. Do you not consume fiction beyond WoW?

A good number dubbed the greatest works of fiction deal with sympathetic villains or antagonistical characters that the audience rallies behind.

I mean - I’ll bite I guess. We have Trump as a president. Of course people would support Sylvanas.

For the love of all that is holy and sane please un-bite.

Wouldn’t Sylvanas be more like Obama though? Yelling about “Hope” while bombing tons of countries that aren’t at war with them?

Gonna echo

Now, the entire premise of this thread is nonsense this is a video game not real life.

However, I’d argue it doesnt stop “the Night Elves had it coming” from being a gross victim balmey argument I see way too much of.

Sure, I agree with you. My second favorite race is the night elves, Teldrassil really messed me up and it’s the core of why I totally lost my faith in Blizzard’s writing. Please keep in mind if you ever see an argument like that, consider who’s writing it. A lot of Sylvanas supporters (myself included) are basically desperate to drag ourselves out of this villainous Horde plotline any way we can, and some of that might include reframing heinous story strokes to make them a little less unbearable. That’s not true for every case, just my own experience.

My response to the quote, however, was just adamantly refusing for this thread to derail into modern IRL political anything. I can tolerate WWII comparisons or other historic examples, whatever, but I’m sick of modern politics, we drag that in and this thread could explode any second.

Oh that was absolutely my reason for quoting you on that. As soon as I saw his name in the post I audibly groaned.

Bringing real life modern politics into this is going to get messy and get this thread eventually locked.

(I also happen to think real life comparisons a la Hiroshima and Nagasaki inherently dont fit and only serve to make an argument equally messy).

As far as the Horde narrative, I definitely feel that. It may not be obvious based on my avatar but up through mists I was exclusively Horde. My first max level character (and still one of my favorites) was my Blood Elf lock in BC. Even when I started playing Alliance in Mists it was an even split. The War of Thorns broke my ability to even log into my Horde toons and it sucks.

I get being that dissatisfied with the current narrative, I really truly do. However, I’m not sure bending over backwards to argue why genocide was a logical and just response within this narrative is the way to go.

I get that not everyone wants to unsub. That people want to find ways to still enjoy the game.

Personally though, I will always find “the Night Elves deserved it” to be a weirdly gross response to criticisms of the act.

Oh excuse me. I must have wondered into the wrong Forum. I was looking for the Story Forum. This must be the IRL Political Forum. Sorry, bye…
