Schaurignett:
A part of me wants to believe she does cares for her promise to Vol’jin about “not letting the Horde die”. Her methods are extreme, cruel, undead-ish but maybe that is the only way she believes we can succeed? Perhaps this Void/Death confrontation will put Sylvanas in an unwanted position with Alleria, which will change her (only moments when she has shown some mercy are with them).
My hopeful Self wants Sylvanas to either, get rid of her curse so she can finally rest in peace which has been so denied to her, or for her to become an important “guardian” of the Shadowlands.
Just Not another Garrosh for blizz’ sake.
Note: Horde side she knows of Saurfang’s rebellion, she sent two (just two) assassins to kill none other than Thrall? I doubt she is that stupid. She likes to play chess/ mislead games that seem to be putting everyone working against her? Not to mention those “everyone” are exactly the ones being hinted to be working under manipulation for N’zoth.
The thing is that, when faced with her history and her past choices, I just don’t see Sylvanas seeing things in the same way the living see.
Consider this:
Well, seeing everything you love and care for be destroyed, then you are killed, resurrected in a horrific way, turned into a puppet unable to resist your master’s commands, forced to do horrific stuff against your own people and innocents, then finally freeing yourself and spending years hellbent on vengeance, only to find yourself empty of purpose once your target is dead, so you take the suicide route but you can’t die because a horrific afterlife is waiting for you… well, that changes people. A lot.
To make matters worse, she’s undead. Being undead do not feel the same as being alive. The sensations are all different, your needs are different, and Sylvanas has no reason to have any hope or empathy for anyone else. For her, existing is painful, life has no purpose, everyone around her is going to die anyway. Her unlife is torment, so why should she care if anyone around her suffers? Nothing will ever compare to her own suffering.
Sylvanas is a person broken beyond reckognition. She became what she despised the most, and is now a dangerous psychopath that has no regards for life. All she cares about is one thing: herself. Anything that threatens her existance is a menace that must be stopped in any way available. Everyone around her is either a pawn or an enemy.
I believe that, if Sylvanas had the chance to kill everyone and turn Azeroth into a realm of Undead, she would see it as not some evil act, but a form of salvation. Undead do not need to eat, they do not need land, they do not have the “flaws” of living. In her own twisted way, turning Azeroth into a realm of undeath would be the end of all wars, of all conflict, of suffering from the “living condition” she fears and despises.
