As the title states and here’s why.
There is no cheating in Mak’gora unless clear rules are stated beforehand.
Mak’gora rules are set by the fighters not a traditional thing even Thrall changed rules of Mak’gora.
The whole “magic cheating” thing is from the warcrfat movie which isn’t canon. Even if it was canon Thrall changed the rules.
when Thrall challenged Garrosh in Mak’gora he used his shaman abilities to crush him and Garrosh didn’t say it was cheating.
There were no rules set and Sylvanas could have easily finished him she just was toying with him.
I’m sorry, I didn’t know there was a debate about that. Cheap? Plot driven? Sad? Sure, all of those words could apply. I’ve not heard too much about actually cheating, although I don’t think any new friends were made that day.
All it was considered, at least to me, was a cheap shot. Obviously she was just toying with Saurfang, and he knew he couldn’t win in a fair fight. But in the end, they both suffered the same fate…bad writing. He deserved better, and so did she.
it wasn’t even a makgora. Just a duel request. And Sylvanas was so beyond horde and alliance at this point - realistically she would just oneshot him without toying.
She has way more emotions than she should. Burning desire isn’t something undead should have
Honestly, character power level is determined by Blizzard - and Saurfang is a seasoned warrior who has fought countless enemies of all types. He handily dismantled the undead assassins sent after him, but couldn’t deal with Sylvanas in the slightest - even before she brought out the magic which should be what tips the scales.
I’m not sure what their excuse for it was, but it was a forced resolution.
technically the only tradition she broke was using more than one weapon, which saurfang also did by using whatever that glowy sword shalamayne, but unlike sylvanas, we saw anduin literally hand sadboi orc the weapon, whereas we had absolutely nothing that hinted at sylvanas’s near titan level of power.
Oh, I agree. It was obvious, however, that she had gotten stronger. In the end it was indeed forced, and I didn’t care for the outcome at all. Saurfang especially deserved a better sendoff since he basically WAS the Horde and had been around for ages. The whole “but muh honors!” thing was also annoying as heck. The writers did Saurfang dirty, as well as Sylvanas over the course of BfA.
Sadly I have to agree here(But I still hate Sylvannas)…in lore there have been many mak’gora magic duels and they were all cannon. The movie did us dirty with their stupid lore re-write.
But like someone earlier said, it was a cheap shot and she could have easily won without using death magic but being the villain she is, they have a tendency to gloat and insult giving the other a chance for a comeback then lose their cool. Typical villain plot.
Saurfang knew he was facing death. He achieved his goal of getting under Lil’Sylvie’s skin enough to make her say the quiet part loud.
The entire series of cinematics leading up to the duel could only end with his death. The writing was pretty heavy handed all the way around, but at least he accomplished what he set out to do, and that was to expose the banshee for who she was.
I hope I get to see Saurfang in the Shadowlands, and I also hope I can help him find peace.
There was a debate? I haven’t really seen anybody debate this fight. By hook or crook, Sylvanas abdicated the position of Warchief after killing Saurfang. It hardly matters now.
Yeah, but at least the Alliance hasn’t been playing musical thrones for as long as I can remember. Varian was a huge loss to be sure, but that was like one time. lol
Nah, Sylvanas had the same level of terrible writing since Cata, and even snipets of it earlier. At this point is just part of the course with her and her fans love it, or hate it but still consume the game.
