With personal loot I do not see the issue, if they can program a talent to swap a drop pool from 1-hand to 2-hand, then by that means the issue would be moot no?

No, things are added to the personal loot pool, like SMF has 1h weapons added to it, which means you can get a jumbled mess of weapons. You could say you change loot specialization to prot, but then you get tank trinkets and other gear that might be a part of that pool.

It really comes down to these weapon options just getting restrictions lifted and not a talent.

But they announced them as talents did they not? if you clicked on the talent it should turn off the loot table for the original weapon drops so it won’t be a problem. I don’t think it is a hard thing to manage on their part.

No, they aren’t talents. Just weapon restrictions being lifted so abilities can be used.

They should switch it if that is the case, or add loot table options for them to exclude x-weapon from dropping. The option in this thread is to make it a talent for ret to pick up.

Or at least what I reconmended.

Why make it a talent? Single minded fury was a talent, but it wasn’t what allowed you to use 1h weapons. Might of the Frozen Wastes didn’t allow you to use 2h weapons either.

The solution to loot is get rid of personal loot and/or allow things to be traded regardless of if it’s an upgrade to you.

In ret’s case here, if it was made into a talent, it wouldn’t force all ret’s to carry a sheild if they didn’t like the looks or idea, and to allow other competitive talents to to be options. Not all ret paladin players would be receptive of weilding say a 2-hander and a sheild. I also beleive that single-minded fury and 2-hand frost should follow that same path to make it easier to balance.

2h frost as a talent wouldn’t solve any of the issues. SMF also doesn’t have anything to really balance and can be balanced with background auras when wielding 1h weapons like is happening.

Ret with a 1h and shield wouldn’t have anything mechanically different either. And if it was a 2h and shield then it would be the go to since it would be better than just a 2h weapon due to more stats.

All this stuff is a mess.

It depends on how things are balanced. internally and externally. They could say in ret’s case (2-h/sheild) that stats on the sheild is reduced by x% to make it not so op as you’d be scared of. They could also make the opposing talents balanced to make up the difference as well. It’s up to blizz to balance things if they take this route. It is there job after all.

It’s not their job to take someone’s want and to try to make it work for that person. It’s their job to make the game that they want. If people aren’t willing to try to think things through a proposed change, then they shouldn’t have any complaints if it doesn’t work out.

This isn’t the D3 crusader. You want to play the D3 crusader go play D3.

lol I think our conversation is over. It is fine to suggest things you want. If they take it great, if they don’t welp we can keep requesting it. No harm no foul. It seems like you are getting pointlessly upset over ppl’s requests and what they are adding (or should I say re-adding) to the game.

There is a difference between suggesting something, and having a complete idea. 2h was a half idea and those people who asked for it and worried even though all they asked for was the choice. They got their choice and it wasn’t good enough. They didn’t do the work they should have done and want Blizzard to fix it for them. They knew of the issues, they didn’t think it mattered.

If you truly want them to add something to the game you should care enough to at least think about how instead of just saying “it’s Blizzards job” and then when it’s not what you want you complain anyways.

I stated how I would like it added. The numbers and the finer details is up to them.

And there are issues.

which has been adressed. and the circle continues. I’m not one for circle arguements. But knowing some people you just want the last word in and go “Hah I won” but what ever. I’m out until someone actually adds something to the discussion.

Who is creating the circle? You do understand that with half the work put in there will always be issues. Did other people bring up that a 2h and shield would always be taken over just a 2h? Even with reduced stats it would still be better, how would the animations work? New animations or using the 1h animations? What talent would you get rid of to do this?

Why do you think they are just lifting weapon restrictions?

That can be simply fixed by having an additional loot specializations. So if you wanted to go Single Minded Fury, you’d choose that as your loot specialization. And if you want to go Titans Grip, then you’d choose that loot option.
The same would then apply for Ret and Frost DKs.

Its not impossible for it to be made to play a little mechanically different. For instance the 1hander would naturally lend itself to having a greater proc chances with Art of War, due to its faster attack speed. So that would make it a more proc heavy playstyle.
For now I’m more leaning on it mostly being visual for ret.

I’d like to see that possibly being more of a pvp talent option for Protection paladins to dps.

Or you just make it a transmog option and not have any other issues other than Blizzard figuring out a way in the transmog system to when you transmog to a 1h weapon, the offhand can only be a shield.

That’s all pally, Yrel does it!

Em, why exactly would they spend resources on something that seems to subobtimal? Not to mention that the effort into making a shield a viable thing for ret would mean we get no work done on things that are actually general ret complaints (mobility, certain rotational problems, lack of defensives, lack of damage outside wings, etc).
