The amount of RMT and pay to win in “hardcore” is extremely cringe.
Crazy how every single person leveling instantly has enough gold to buy their mount at level 40.
Every single person who has ever played on a fresh server without dungeon grinding knows that’s impossible.
Literally every person running around with “of the bear” or “of the monkey” greens full set that cost 10g each on the AH from the chinese farmers that are camping every BOE farming spot.
The only things that will sell on the AH are BOE armor or items. The economy is completely ruined and cringe. Professions aren’t even worth leveling unless you’re an alchemist with Petri flask recipe.
Already have GDKP raids going on within 3 weeks. Just a completely cringe contradiction to “hardcore” wow allowing so much RMT to go on.
massive fail by blizzard imo.
could have at least excluded petri flask from classic but now the meta is to just swipe and pay 40 dollars any time a player thinks they’re going to die.
Wouldn’t even be surprised if blizzard are the ones selling all of the gold.
I was long short like 15 gold at level 40 and I bought some levelling weapons from vendors. (executionner sword, merciless axe, Big stick). not crazy at all
I have been playing no death, self fund, but not solo since 2012. Only once have I been lacking a few G to buy my mount - and if I had not been the collector I am, wanting all cooking recipes and patterns for my proffs, I would never had had any monetary problems once I pass level 15 o so (bit class and luck dependent).
There’s even guides out there on how to earn money while levelling your professions - also not using the AH.
So, no this is not an improbable scenario even without RMT.
I do not use the AH, or only rarely. I sell some low level mats cheap, bcause I abhor the overpricing mafia - and I buy some very few white items early on. I go adventuring, not AH flipping. I simply do not find it fun.
I have also done it on the EU RP server, that was almost totally deserted (before the HC addon crew showed up) with a /who under 50 at any and all time
It’s 100% a player made problem. If people didn’t buy gold, there would be zero bots. You’d think on a hardcore server people are here for the challenge of it, but apparently not. There will always be “those people”, but thankfully you can usually figure out who they are and just avoid them. I found one in the barrens the other day and totally almost killed myself just to tag a quest mob and make him wait while continuously declining his group invitations. They’re out there, but that doesn’t mean I have to play with them.
At the leading edge of the game Im sure RMT and prices are an issue, especially if you feel you have to buy gold to participate.
However, I am in 2 different guilds (alt) - one of about 90 and one a few hundred. I have not met anyone in these guilds who are intending to play end game. The under 30 zones are full and fun. People are mostly friendly - something unusual in warcraft in recent years. It is really enjoyable - and RMT has virtually no impact on this set of players.
Sure I do /who 60 and notice the same hunters in Azshara almost 24/7. Does it bother me? It annoys me - they are so easy to find. But for lots of us this is the most fun we’ve had in warcraft for ages. And for us the challenge is getting to 60. A few have got to 60 and parked their toon and are now trying a harder class for a different challenge. One set of 60 players in one of these guilds are doing the level 60 dungeons but have no intention of doing anything beyond ubrs.
Having gold to buy a mount at 40 isn’t a hard thing to do… I’ve never been good with making or hanging on to gold. Never had an issue with my level 40 mount.
Had a mount at 40 easily on a horde warrior while also training engineering. You just have to vendor/auction everything valuable and hold off training abilities that aren’t actually needed. Its very simple, and even easier if you’re good at flipping items on the AH.
The OP is just a guy who can’t manage his gold and so like many morons who have egos larger than their intellect creates elaborate conspiracy theories where he’s a victim rather than accept his own shortcomings and improve.
Being both a warlock and therefore training for two and a tailor/enchanter so most everything that could be vendored/AH’d gets DE’d means that my character never has any gold, currently less than 5g at level 27. Of course I knew this going in.
Thankfully the level 40 warlock mount at 40 is free.
Other characters, that I’ve leveled in classic in the past with different professions have never had issues having enough cash for the level 40 mount.
