Well, at least we know at the end of the day whatever is coming is going to be simplified and pruned. So it’s not like they’re gonna create some overly complicated monstrosity that we are not gonna be able to handle. If anything reducing the complexity right now makes it less dependent on add-ons and gives players an actual opportunity to understand their rotation without having to listen for a digital voice to tell them what to do.
I won’t spec for every spec here, but for evoker they’ve removed our best heal for m+, removed the ability to lifebind the group and want to instead lean into dream breath and our worst heal, emerald blossoms.
That doesn’t necessarily simplify the spec. It will make it worse and far more frustrating to play.
Every spec is going to be the BM Hunter of the game. They’ve said flat out they’re gutting all complexity.
Its insane didnt they just make a whole new animation to jadefire stomp, made some talent changes to make it work really good, just to remove it all in the upcoming expansion? Like bruh we have a healer and tank shortage and they are making it worse.
No offense to you personally, but honestly, the dragon flight expansion was a mistake as was bringing in dragons and creating Evoker. There are plenty of long-standing and well established healing classes for every measure and the only thing we’ve heard from this class for the last four years almost has just been complaint after complaint.
the addon squish has me scared. i use vudu and it allows conditional targeting. meaning my left click will cast flash heal on friendly and smite on enemy. They REALLY need to look at all of the issues that are going to arise from HOW people play the game and what the stock UI will and won’t do. if they don’t get this right, i fear we will have another mass exodus like in cataclysm .
Both of those things are being greatly improved.
Dream breath - got buffed and now explodes like druid blossoms. And now has 40yd range and 2 charges.
Emerald blossoms - straight up got a 100% increase to healing plus talents to support it.
Those dream breath interactions are for flameshaper only.
Regardless of how much blossoms heal for, it doesn’t solve the positional requirements of the spell. If people can’t be tightly stacked in its small radius, they won’t get healed.
I just want to say and I CANNOT say this enough: purge and dispel spells feel so minimal in PVE content that it’s disappointing. Maybe not so much for dispels because M+ sees them a lot, but certainly purge to me feels almost exclusive to PVP content at this point as a resto shaman main.
I’ll wait to see how this actually pans out. I’ve been here for 21 years, I’ve seen this song and dance before. Every time Blizzard says they’re reworking healing, and smoothing damage inputs, that doesn’t actually happen. So other than a bunch of stuff getting turned into passives, I don’t think much will actually change. We will feel weak as hell in the beginning, like we always do, there will be mass amounts of posts on reddit and the forums crying about how hard healing is, then we’ll get gear and it’ll be the same old same old.
It would be great if they could figure out how to provide challenge for healers that isn’t xTrEm3 whack a mole healing. I’m not sure I would hold my breath though, since it seems like they are always going to be dead set on the threat being 100 to 0 super fast deaths requiring almost instant reaction time or even pre-emptive healing casts.
Just noticed mistweaver will have to choose between Sheilun’s Gift and Vivify. Crazy change. It really feels like all of this pruning was done with raid in mind with no regard for M+.
Resto Shaman will have to chose between Healing Tide Totem and Ascendence too. Feelsbad
They tried rot damage and everyone complained.
I didn’t mind to much when healers contributed to damage in M+ during downtime. They still do now but the damage output is so much lower.
When they initially rolled out Aug Evoker and how it turned into a staple META class then was nerfed. I always wondered why they didn’t build the Aug Evoker party/raid buff style into healer gameplay instead. To have healers play as a support buffing the party and raid during healing downtime instead of contributing to minimal dps like it is set up as now.
Problem with support role is that it would need to be a part of everything in that role. Otherwise it has the same problem that support DPS Aug had. It’s either strong enough to be better than a DPS, then it’s mandatory to bring an Aug. Or it isn’t, and you don’t bring Aug ever.
Tank or healer could probably fill a support role too, but that would involve working it into all of the existing tanks or healers, and I doubt blizzard wants to do that much work.
I agree. Like you I’ve seen a lot of changes over the years that I’ve healed. Changes to the mastery or losing spirit comes to mind. But no matter how much they change the spells or prune or whatever they do – we healers will be frantically trying to top off the group! You can change the game, but you can’t change us.
Basically every time Blizz changes something.
I agree! People basically stay 1-2 global away from death and it is just pure stress in gaming. Many other MMO’s don’t do this for healers, and after playing some of the classic wow relaunches, healing didn’t used to be all yo-yo ish
I don’t particularly care about it in group play, especially if they greatly reduce the need for kicks. Not having one for solo play, especially in delves is just infuriating though. I suppose they might (should but probably won’t) reduce its need there as well. Not being able to interrupt delve mobs on my priest this season was just unnecessarily awful gameplay.
